I'm able to take care of 4 cats, 1 dog and a husband now!

My kitchen isn't strewn with raw eggs, and god knows what else that I'd try and cook while drunk and in a blackout... it's actually clean when I wake up in the morning

I can think again, plan ahead, change plans, and generally be adaptable to things that happen in my life. That's a huge one!

I am not afraid to wake up in the morning. When you are black out drunk every night you fear waking up to something stupid you did or said.

And, I don't sweat profusely from doing easy things like picking up the living room or sweeping the floor.

There are plenty of people who don't drink or drink very little---and they're not boring at all.

I am MORE fun sober than I ever was when I drank.

I've noticed how much I love getting a shower in the morning and how my skin now feels lovely and soft instead of dry and flakey after drinking

My bank account doesn't have that "negative" sign in front of the balance like it used to......

I´ve noticed so many things. Just a couple:

-I am more available to my cat, who, as it turns out, loves to lay on my chest. It is one of the most soothing experiences, having my cat purring on me.

-my self-confidence. Despite relationship or work troubles, I can consider them self-affirming; instead, they´re just a part of life and I now know that I´m able to overcome because I deserve great things (I didn´t feel like I deserved good things before getting sober).

This is a GREAT topic! Thank you!

It is dead middle winter here. Cold, very cold nights..
I love the sound of the city waking up, predawn. I have lived here for 4 or so months and even sounds pinpoint people and routine....the guy across from, with the Lotus that sounds like a lawnmower. The young lady opposite in the other flats, who comes out in a dressing gown and slippers- holding an infant, while 2 ancient rat-dogs do their business- and talking about silly waking up stuff- like dressing gowns. The first jets taking their busy business people off to their terribly important- return trip meeting. stuff like that

My self-confidence.

At 58 years old, I feel like an adult (me ) is in charge of my life, for the first time.

Nice... I can relate.

People actually listen to what I say now. Empowering feeling!

How much weight I've gained.

Seriously, though: my wispy and thin hair has come back to its full body. I really thought that it was thin from hitting my 40s. Nope. It had to do with the alcohol.

My skin on my hands is better.

I don't have to back up automatically when I talk to people.

Don't have to worry about a cop getting behind me (but, I still do).
