I was thinking about how leaving addiction behind, is an act that sets us FREE in so many ways.
So for this thread, just begin with: Today, I am free to _____________?
Today, I am free to start this thread!!

Today I am free to speak to someone in person without my mouth full of cough drops, gum, and/or breath spray in an attempt to hide the booze smell from the night before. Nor do I need to be slamming eye drops in my eyes to cover the bloodshot glossiness they keep getting from my hangover.
EQ...this could be a very long list for me, because I feel free to do anything I set my heart to, in sobriety. In addiction, I was paralyzed by depression, fear, and anxiety. I am a new man now. So, because I am sober, I am free to be the person I am meant to be, in every possible way.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Today I am free to sit and enjoy sober time to myself, to really hear the music playing in the background. To really feel the blanket laying over my legs. To really see these pictures with clear vision. And if I stand, I will not stumble. And if I kiss my love, it won't be because alcohol told me to. I am free today!

Free to not let the tiny things in daily life get the best of me. Everything I say and do is so much more positive. Setting the tone for the day the minute I get up because I dont feel like horse crap.

Just because your sober does not mean your addiction is behind you. Most people I seen that had a drug and/or alcohol would most likely have other addictions that were not as bad but was not healthy.
