Because I am sober today, I was free to:
notice a problem I had created,
stop ignoring it,
ask for help, and
refuse to feel ashamed for asking for help,
express gratitude for the help, and
make a plan to minimize the need to ask for help again,
As opposed to using alcohol to ignore the problem and letting the problem get wildly out of control.

Family
Today I am free to be an active and productive member of my family. I am no longer a burden to them, and can be of help instead of hurt.
Because I am sober today, I am free to:
Confront the noise heard downstairs while I was in bed. The growling dog going first of course. Lol We searched the whole house and outside too till pooch and I were both satisfied.
If I were drinking, I'd either be too frightened, or,
I'd minimize it and do nothing, or,
I wouldn't care if something bad were happening because I wanted to die, or,
I'd be extremely paranoid and irrationally think the worst, or,
I'd be too passed out to hear it.

Feel safe driving after 6:00, making plans for the next day that involve productive, positive actions and outcomes. Looking at my face in the mirror an not be sick of myself. Wow, pretty much anything besides me and my big glass wasting my/our life away!

This is always what I remember from the last time I quit drinking (8 or 9 years ago - lasted 2.5 years). I was free to come and go in the evenings without worrying about planning my night around drinking. I could also predict that I'd be reasonably productive each day and not have my weeks thrown off by hangovers. Today is the day I'm going to start again. Not just because it's NYD. I just really can't wait any longer.
Because I am sober today I am free to chase my dreams - anything is possible as long as I put God / sobriety first.
Oh, and I'm also free to live in public among other citizens and not be locked up in a jail cell / mental ward which is really pretty neat. Lol

I am free to feel all my feelings, and sensations... even the uncomfortable ones like panic and pain.
Tonight I am feeling very uncomfortable and all I know to do is to let it happen and hope by doing so i teach myself it is not intolerable.

Refuse to take phone calls from my former drinking partner when I know by the time on the clock that she has been drinking and how the conversation will go, again. It's ok so say no and feel ok about it.
Drive my new car!! And I got a lot of chores done in just the morning. Time to have a little fun and the rest and get ready for... MONDAY!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm free to be grateful that I'm sober. Honestly occasionally I don't feel grateful that I don't drink so when I'm not grateful to be sober I am still able to be grateful that I have the opportunity to be grateful to be sober haha! If I drink I don't even have that opportunity.
I'm also free to write crazy sentences like the above because I know I'm not crazy because I'm drunk.
