Just a quite trivial question really.

And, another thing...........

You can remember who almost scored the goal in the 19th and a half minute of the FA cup quarter final between whotsit and whosit, but you don't remember to buy Christmas presents!!

Ok, you got me beat with that one. It's just that each game result is dependant on league position and then.............

Ok, Ok, Ok, cut some slack here... you gals ask things like, "does my bum look big in this"? Then when I answer, "no, it looks big in anything you wear". Then you guys get the huff on and I cannot understand that anymore than your confusion over football.

We're a different species. I'm certain of it.

Yep, thats Timzup's a pest eh !!!!

Starts off with a trivial question and I end up with a new avater !!!!!!!!

Think I might keep it a while.

Actually thats also part of my problem, just as Timzup's trivial question has now gone to 3 pages, a quiet couple of pints that weren't even my idea in the first place would end with me in a mess somewhere.

oh well !!!!!!!

The correct answer to that is: "Bum, what bum?"

Gerard is my favourite man in shorts! Except for some lovely lads on the Welsh and English rugby teams! There, now you know why girls can't concentrate enough to learn the rules!

This thread makes me howl each day.

Ok, just to recap.

We have concluded that the international differences between units of liquid volume are directly attributable to a Roman soldier's ability to number each of his steps without losing count, upto 1000, typically illustrated by the antics of Asterix and Obelix. Without foregoing a typical female's perception of the off-side rule in soccer, which doesn’t count if they have lovely legs.

Is this really what we have concluded as being collectively sober?

Anything else to add?..... Anyone…..?

Does that mean that in Roman times you had to do 1000 steps in AA, whereas now just the 12 will do? Sort of like AA-lite?

Anyone else notice that everyone else bar the three of us has completly lost interest in our gaulish alcoholic antics !!!!!!

Its turning into a bit of a Brits thread, 2 englishmen ( 1 a woman) and a scotsman were in a thread ..............................................

These AA'ers nowadays eh, don't know they are born with their measly 12 steps !!!!!!!!

1000 steps, now thats the real answer.

From the official "Asterix around the world" site.

Obelix, Asterix's inseparable friend. A menhir delivery-man by trade; addicted to wild boar. Obelix is always ready to drop everything and go off on a new adventure with Asterix - so long as there's wild boar to eat, and plenty of fighting.

So its official, we have proof that Obelix does have addiction problems, he's obviously seeking help about his wild boar thing but still in denial about the drink and the drugs !

lol, I had noticed that too Fizzy! We've been assigned our very own part of SR and people are hoping we will stay here, and not disturb other sane members!!

What I do think would be an idea, is to start an UK English - US English dictionary. There are some confusions, I feel, in our cross-atlantic communications. Some might say that they adulterated the language (not me, however!!). Although, they turned rugby into football - I'm not sure that is forgiveable!

We took years to build that stadium, and ......for what...?! Honestly, they helped us win a couple of wars, but what have they done for us lately?

And we wouldn't have needed any help if those effing Gauls had helped out a bit instead of holding up a "Welcome Hitler" banner!!

Ananda, that is shocking. You don't have Asterix and Obelix in the States? We have got to educate you!!

Don't worry about sports, it's a mystery to me too. Us girls have more important things to worry about, like clothes and shoes!
