The new Alpine - Part Two
Magnificent images, Alpine. I need to get out on the MTB, haha. You clearly do have a lot of strength and endurance - we don’t need the pics to know that, but they serve as such excellent metaphors and reminders of what we are capable of. From my vantage point you are doing amazing work. You inspire me, as do your quotes and images. Keep going!
Accountability: Doing well in my little corner of the world with my focus and determination. No thoughts whatsoever to even drink or go into the poison store which is right next door to the grocery store. There were times where when I first stopped drinking I could not even face my car in that direction because it would almost be like a cue to go there too ( ridiculous I know). Even though people becoming sober ( notice I did not say trying to because it is a more positive mindset) are on the same path, each path is different with different obstacles of course. I choose to accept the challenges head on and not run from them to alcohol.

Accountability: For me today, it is about control..Control of my emotions, control of my reactions to events unfolding, and control of my physical actions. When I was drinking heavily, I had no control over anything..Even though I thought I did. What lies I told myself...Sigh. The more I drank the less control I had. I had control over brining that drink up to my mouth even though I knew where it would lead to. The control reminds me of my climbing days where I needed to be spot on with my emotions, my reactions and physical side otherwise things could have gone real bad very quickly. I shall keep my harness on and the belay ready.

Accountability: Need to increase my focus and not be on autopilot. Autopilot works for somethings, but definitely not for maintaining my sobriety. I need to not let my guard down and use every tool available and learn new tools to keep my strength and life without alcohol because it is a far better life when alcohol is not involved. There are some issues at the place where my Mom was discharged to which I will keep a close eye on ..Little do they know I come from working in those types of places for close to 30s years so I know the "games" the staff sometimes try to play.
