Class of March 2013 Part 59
Babs, no pretending this holiday will be easy for you, but you have plenty of support. Grieve, allow yourself to feel, but also remember the good times, my mum still gets low sometimes missing my dad, I tell her to fish out her wedding album or other special photos of their time together and it always picks her up. We are here and listening to anything you want to express or just to give cyber hugs as needed.
Hi Ken! Excited to hear about the new pups.
Babs, a lot of people are looking forward to getting through this holiday and to the other side. Give yourself some grace this holiday and let yourself experience all of the emotions and waves of grief. The healing comes after working through the emotions and stages of grief. We’re here for you xoxo.
Toots, this will be my mom’s first Christmas without dad. She has dementia but she is aware enough to know that he’s gone and is very sad missing him. I showed her her wedding photos yesterday and she commented on how young dad looked then said in all seriousness “It’s amazing, I look exactly the same.”
I hope that everyone here in the US affected by this weather are staying warm.

Hi all,
Ken, good to see you! Granny and Morticia sound great
Babs, good to see you and sending strength and love to you!
Duff, aging parent(s) can be challenging and sad. It’s something I never anticipated but I learned a lot from the process. It enabled me to let go of a good deal of anger I felt toward mine. Now I’m on the opposite side. My daughter doesn’t want to communicate and misreads nearly everything I do and say. So I can only hope that she will eventually find peace.

Hi to all and happy holidays
Prayers Babs.
Been 'away' last few. Not being part of family, primarily because of my drinking past sees me choosing to just stay quiet and still on xmas day.. I had an invite to go to a cousin's place, which I've done in the past...and I usually feel worse for the effort.VERY hot again...around 43-5...110. So me, a very bored dog, art doco's and housework....yippie ki yay

I have been thinking this all day, John, and I started typing it....and stopped myself.
I know what you want. Of course. And I pray that in time you have your boys and grandchildren with you at Christmas and for all of the times we share with those we love.
But until that happens (and I believe it will), perhaps there is a way you can start your own Christmas traditions. I am not sure how much you like your neighbours, but perhaps you could make a thing...Christmas your way, where you invite a small, select group (maybe a few AA friends) for a BYO Christmas In Oz feast, with Paul Kelly playing in the background and a gorgeous pav in the fridge for dessert. I can make a pav....my sister laughs because I am all about buying the shell, but you can do it cheaply and spectacularly.
