Psychiatrist Steven Pinker points out that we all think about murder all the time in some little part of our brain, especially when driving, but we ignore that little impulse, or at least don't act on it. That's the goal for me and alcohol. Thinking about it isn't the problem. Acting on that impulse is the problem. Follow the impulse and one murder becomes a mass shooting. One drink becomes one hundred.
Hi folks Babs, Trachy good to see you 'back in class' sorry for your losses, you too Peej.
As alcoholics we have seen alcohol as the answer to so many problems, but having spent so many sober days between us we also know it really isn't. I resent now, how I allowed alcohol to suppress my emotional responses to situations, it prevented me from growing as a person earlier. Now I know that if I'm in pain from loss, it will pass, it will ease. But by feeling that pain I am allowing myself to accept that the person I loved is no longer in my life physically. That said, although I've lost close family members, it might feel different if it was my Mr T or my grandson.

Hi there Marchers!
Welcome to year 11!
All is going well here, not working as many hours, except for January, we got hit with 64+ hour weeks, but back to normal now.
Dogs and aquariums are doing well, except the dogs ate another couch!!!
Tracy is doing well, but we don't get together much lately, she's been real busy helping out our local Humane Society by fostering newborn puppies and taking in dogs that most likely won't get adopted because of age or disabilities. As of last week she had 37 dogs at her house including 7 newborn she has to hand feed, the pups mother got killed by a car.
This area is horrible when it comes to animal care, the Humane Society is constantly going on rescues because people won't take care of their critters. Last week some idiot crammed 9 puppies into 1 cage and threw it over the fence while the center was closed. It's really sad. Every time I go grocery shopping I'll buy something they need and a few times a year I'll take one of the dogs to the center and donate whatever I bought.
Hope everyone is well!

Lucky you Toots !! Safe and Happy Travels.
Leaving next week for a few days in Laughlin ---going with a gal that I met a couple of years ago and
we get along pretty darn good. so, looking forward to getting out of the house for a few days. Sometimes I feel
the walls closing in although there is plenty to do ..such as sort through stuff of my husbands but, it's just easier to shut the
closet door and say ....maybe tomorrow but, I will start and soon.
Hope everyone is well, take care...Hugs
