I live in an alcoholic's paradise surrounded by pubs and liquor stores within walking distance haha. Also, can get booze delivered 24 hours a day. I pay a huge premium but I can get a case of beer delivered to my door at 3am which I have done in the past after waking up in withdrawal.

Hoping this is going to be the prelude to a much better year for you dear WL.

When are you off to meet your friends? Today or tomorrow? s

On a brighter note, my steps tracking app has awarded me the 'Boston to Philly' achievement. Means that since August, I've walked the total distance between the 2 cities. 280 miles or 448 km. It's literally the only thing I have achieved in a decade haha

Striking how we try to poison ourselves.
I hope you are on the mend WL. Hope the recycle funds go toward some nice groceries, or your visit.
Our bodies somehow recover.
I realize that I’ve been playing Russian roulette with drinking episodes, tougher to heal as we get older, the next one could easily be fatal.

Hoping to go out and tour the neighbourhoods with big displays of Christmas lights. Should be nice.

Cheers!

Merry Christmas everyone! TC, I went straight to the grocery store with the deposit money and bought groceries. I was tempted to buy beer but I'm only ever interested in getting drunk so a 6 pack is a waste of time for me if you know what I mean.

Just got a call from my dad who has been almost fully recovered for weeks now. He is in a retirement home, not a nursing home. No one bothered to tell me. Dad didn't bother to call. I thought he was still in delirium and being spoon fed. Very strange family dynamic indeed. My father did admit he is an alcoholic. Although, he said he had been drinking as recently as a week ago.

I'm glad things are better than you thought for your Dad. I hope he decides to stop drinking.

I’m glad your Dad is better than you thought WL. I hope he can stop drinking too.
It was lovely to see family for Christmas, but they’re all heading home again now. We had quite a few stay with us. We are waaaay too much

Typo, that should have read, we ATE waaaay too much
Although some might say my family are way too much
We had so much food it really was ridiculous, especially considering there are people without enough to eat in the world.
Next year I’m really thinking about helping out in a homeless shelter or soup kitchen or the like.

But Christmas wasn’t nearly as awful as I was expecting (I’m still working on trying not to catastrophise things and worry unnecessarily). Not everyone stayed after dinner, thankfully, and I escaped to bed fairly early. Several stayed the night, but all have headed home now, so the house is quiet again. We still have a lot of food left, so we won’t be going hungry. I am going to need to go on a health kick in the New Year after all the rich food is gone!

Glad the holidays are going well.

IT IS SO STINKING COLD here. Will be no ‘warmer’ than -25C and as cold as -36C for the next 10 days. So aggravating.
I’m very tempted to drive to a warmer locale. An 18-20 hour drive would do it. The west coast is a bit above freezing. I could get a hotel room for a few days. Wife is not on board. She’s not spontaneous in any way. ‘Planning’ and such is sort of a mantra for her, blah…

Hope you are well, safe, and warm.
( or cool, for the Aussies)

Oh my gosh love, I am afraid I could not cope.
18 hour drive to where? I could do that most definitely if it meant warmer temps.

And good morning....we posted at the same time. ❤️
