A hand up to the forehead is romanticised pathos.
A true veteran of self misery is more organic, less stylised. Quiet, deep sighing, music, a furroughed brow.

I'm doing the HALTS stuff and mindful crap. Prolonged chronic pain also gets depression going.[which reeeeealllly SUCKS]
This too shall pass.

Thank you Dee!

Maybe this will help, PJ....Puppy Bowl is today! You can watch it either on Animal Planet or stream it through DiscoveryPlus

Thank you for the new thread Dee!

PJ, I can literally picture you sighing with a furrowed brow. Wish I could help in some concrete way, but today I do say, hang in there.

Puppy Bowl!!! Starting in 30 minutes....me and my pups are gathering some snacks and ready to have some fun! Speaking of which....my German shepherd is doing great on chemo, no side effects for him and he's having a good life, although he did tear apart my husband's outdoor shed going after rabbits who were living underneath (rabbits outsmarted him, so they are fine). Never heard of a dog actually destroy an entire shed. Husband not happy, but took it pretty well I must say. Beagle seems recovered from her bronchial infections, after the third doctor finally figured it out and treated it with strong antibiotics and steroids. She is eating and loves to take walks outside. So ~ stressful dog health issues have ebbed for a while and I feel so much better.

Husband and I were talking last night, how much better life is sober. He's doing great too.

Feeling blessed,

Thanks, Dee.

I didn't catch the Puppy Bowl, but I suspect it was more exciting than the Super Bowl. Ah well, it's nice to not be hungover today.

I hope your pain is subsiding, PHX.

I'm glad your pups are doing better, Lillian.

Hope the job stuff works out, Purps.

Keeping you in my thoughts, MITA.

I hope all is well with your husband, Sam.

Hey, Caramel, Suze, Lixie, BBG and 13th! (Hope I didn't miss anyone, but if I did, hey!)

Have a great day, March friends. It is cold here in the middle, the snow keeps missing us. I'm ready for spring, I think.

Just a hello to let you know I'm still here. Much love to all. Though I'm still struggling, STILL, after all this time, you each give me inspiration that someday I will move onto the greater place. That place of complete and lasting sobriety. I thank you and love you all.

Thanks Dee!

Lillian - so happy to hear that your pups are doing well!

PJ - I get the depression sucks stuff. Just keep putting one foot in front of other. Feels almost impossible I know - sending you love across the ocean

Purps - I didn't see the Puppy Bowl but I did read yesterday that every year all the puppies have been adopted - which is pretty awesome!

Bobbie - I'm not a football fan so no Super Bowl for me but I definitely agree with the "nice to not be hungover" today sentiment

Thirteenth - I get it - believe me - but it really does get easier. I didn't believe that 130 days ago. I really thought every day was going to be torturous. But there is peace on the other side. You are strong enough to do this

Hubby is doing okay here. Next appointments are on the 17th. Stress Test to check his heart and then the cancer surgeon to talk about a course of action and treatment. Talk about a lot happening in one day. Really sucks that I can't be there with him but I get it - just happy we are moving forward

Well I am off to work today. I got called in yesterday on my day off and was so happy to be clear headed and feeling good. I don't miss the hangover mornings that's for sure! Happy Tuesday!

Good to see you Thirteenth

Glad to hear you + hubby and your pups are doing well Lillian

(Yes I think Puppy Bowl withdrawal is a real thing )

Weird how I'm not excited about the whole Buccaneers Superbowl thing.....if they made it without what's-his-face on the team it would be different....good thing we can watch replays of the important game

Lillian and Sam, very sorry about both of your situations. At the same time, you are both inspirations to me - thank you!

Hope everyone else is doing okay - nice to see you here 13th. Keep trying - don't ever give up.

There was a puppy named "Hash Brown" in Puppy Bowl, and if I could have brought him home then and there...I would have!! So cute. One dog named "Bandit" was from San Diego, who I heard was adopted. He was Australian Cattle Dog and he would have been HIGH ENERGY ALL THE TIME!! Good luck to that family!!

Hope everyone is having a great week. Valentines Day is coming up.
