Thanks for the new thread Dee

Yes I think we can definitely use the same sentiment for alcohol. When we stop drinking, we’re not giving up anything, we’re gaining freedom from the clutches of alcohol.

Willow, my mother passed away suddenly 2 years ago come this November, so I know what you are feeling now. Still hasn't really hit home for me. My father is still mourning I think.

369, yes Canadian Thanksgiving is pretty much exactly the same. Turkey, stuffing, ham, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce etc....

And of course Turkey sandwiches for lunch for the rest of the week!

WL I’m sorry about your Mum. It’s so hard losing those we love My Dad died not long after my Mum, only a couple of weeks later. That was tough. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it, rather just trying to figure out a new way to live without them here. It’s not easy that’s for sure.

Lol it is a funny emoji on a turkey

Goodnight TC

Hi all

Thanks for the new thread Dee.

Not much to say at my end. I had a busy day and quite enjoyed it, but worn out and ready for sleep.

Best wishes to all for health and happiness - you all deserve the best.

Morning all. Starting over today with the no smoking. Darn.
It would be so hard to lose your mom and dad both. So sorry, Willow.
Sorry to you about your mom, too, WL. You not being able to be there makes it so much harder.
I love reading and watching videos about 'near death' experiences. So many people have had them. Very comforting and also inspires me to focus more on the spiritual aspect of life.

7 a.m. here. I’m not a morning person. Never have been.
This week is the final week for my students. Much to do.

Karen, I hope the non-smoking goes well for you. The cravings are tough. For me they lasted 7 minutes. If I could distract myself for that long, I’d get through. (shower, candy, listen to 2 songs, take doggie outside, wash dishes)

I’m tired today.

Have a good day everyone.

Thanks TC! How long ago did you quit, do you mind me asking?
I hope everyone is having a great day. I love this time of year.

For some reason my internet has been shut off again AND my mobile phone. I am in a coffee shop using their wifi. I am getting really concerned with my father not paying my bills for months at a time. I did make a credit card payment to the internet provider when they shut it off end of August so no idea what is going on. Cell phone bill hasn't been paid since May.

The money is there, my mother's estate account has plenty, but my father just has to make the payment. He is computer illiterate to the point where he barely knows how to turn a computer on so he goes into a bank branch or mails a cheque....

I think he may be drinking too much. I don't know. Haven't seen him in 3 years. Even after my alcoholic mother died 2 years ago....

It's just that he doesn't let me know. He just doesn't pay it and let's the bills pile up until service gets cut off and then I have no way to even call the service providers. I can't even call my service providers because I don't have any cell service!

I've been off the smokes for about 10 years now.
We built a small home out in the country back then and decided with fresh paint and new furniture and fixtures that we wouldn't smoke in the house.
I don't miss it a bit. Very rarely I'll reminisce a bit about the feeling, but there is never a compulsion like with booze.
One time at about seven years as I was walking across the living room I tapped my chest pocket for smokes. That was really weird. just laughed it off.

Coffee break over,
Cheers
