24 Hour Recovery Connections Part 453
7:30 pm in CA and checking in for another 24 at the end of a very busy week! I had three big professional development sessions that I was responsible for this week. I started planning in the spring, and there were lots of moving pieces, many presenters, and what seemed like endless logistics. I am very proud to say that all three days were big successes. There were some minor issues with technology, but that was beyond my control, so I did not worry about it. I’m going into this weekend very tired, but feeling very productive.
All three of my kids went back to school this week. My son started middle school (7th grade) on Monday, and I was worried about the transition, but it has gone extremely well. My girls went back on Wednesday and with AP courses and practice they are both already busier than they’d like.
Tomorrow I’m going to a memorial service for a friend who died unexpectedly a few weeks ago. She was a teacher, and it’s being held at a high school in the district where she worked. She was one of those people who made huge positive impacts on the lives of so many. It is also a good reminder of how precious life is, and to enjoy every minute.
At a kickoff this morning there were three things they said makes for a happy life:
-Gratitude
-Sense of Purpose
-Relationships
I completely agree with this list. There is nothing there about money, power, or material things.
I wish these things for each of you in 24 hour land.
Have a great weekend.
❤️Delilah

That was still one of the proudest moments of my life. I was very emotional that day. You’ll get there Rose, and I look forward to celebrating with you!
Hi,
My biggest sobriety "moment" was when I had 7 days. Me??!!
I couldn't IMAGINE 1 DAY without wine.
To get that full week ---- well, it's all of my HP's doing. ❤️
On my own, ...yeah .... you can only imagine how that didn't work out for me ...
I am checking in for my next 24 .....
Bobbi.

I’m still alive and sober. Sometimes that is enough. Still lots of trouble/worry surrounding the care of my very sick but wonderful parents, but I am doing my best and even if that means being extremely run down and discouraged at times, it’s my very best effort, and I have made things better for them. By being sober I can do so much more. Really grateful for it- I’m a different person today instead one who avoids and hides behind a drink. You keep showing up in sobriety, people can count on you. I pray and hope that my worry becomes more manageable. That I can rest and start sleeping again. It’s the faith thing, but also hope and strength.
I’ll try to sleep alarm free tonight. This was a good place to start. 24 please.
Xx

Day started off well, went to my hg mtg, did some errands & finished @ grocery store. My boots were scheduled to arrive this evening so called the agency to see if they wanted me to report tomorrow or Mon; after being on hold for ten mins, I’m informed there’s no work & will be called next wk!!! The air in me felt taken out as if hit below the belt! Holy smokes this is insane; prayed, text my sponsor then went to another mtg where a couple of other alkys encouraged me

1new creation - gosh, that sounds really crushing. Hope things improve soon.
Iced VoVo - yours does not sound like an easy situation and you should allow yourself to be proud of the fact that you've made and are making things better for your parents. I hope it does all get more manageable.
Delilah - thank you for your faith! You're right - I shall get to a year. That'll be worth throwing a (non-alcoholic) party for! And you're right about that list. It's spot-on and worth keeping at the front of our minds.
24 hours to kickstart a sober weekend please.
