Hi, gang! Just a little drive-by on a Saturday afternoon. All is well.

On an interesting note: peoples' addictions are taking second place to their lives. And that's a beautiful thing.

Dad has always been unpleasant at times, but it seems that confronting his mortality has made things worse. They have carers that go in to do the things he cannot do physically, but there is no need for anyone full time as yet. I heard earlier that my mum had a massive argument with my dad last night and told him she wouldn't tolerate his behaviour any more. Since then he has settled down, but there is a pattern and I feel it will probably build up again over time. It is good to know she can and will stand up for herself when pushed into a corner. Hopefully it made my dad sit up and take notice. We are back down next week for a family get together, so will spend a little time with them. I guess we will take things day at a time.

I'm glad your mum is standing up for herself Toots.
My mum keeps my dad pretty much in check that way.

Duff, your son is very fortunate to have a mom who stands up for him Sassy kitty seems to be 100% deaf.

Toots, good that your mom stood up for herself. Most definitely a very challenging situation

Trachy, you sound good...

Hi guys, feeling a little itchy and sore, I have shingles. At the moment my biggest problem with it is lack of sleep. I'm on strong antiviral medication which hopefully will reduce any postviral nerve damage/pain.

Awh man Toots -----Take care of yourself. So sorry to hear ---I hear they are miserable.
I just got done with my second Upper GI---they put bands on the varcies (blood vessels) on my esophagus and then I went yesterday and had another upper GI and everything look good and have to have another one in a year.
The ultra sound shows I have a palp on my Gall bladder and now this Tuesday I'm having surgery and having it removed (the gall bladder) the palp has grown over the last 3 years so, they are taking it all. That's all I can tell you in my own language....soooo lucky me gets to be laid up for a bit. It will be ok---they will send in the palp and it will take up to 6 days to find out if it is cancer or not.....Most are not ---i'll worry about it when they tell me.
gosh,----I have been thinking about drinking and if this is what a little stress does ---what would I do if I really had something to complain about.??
ha ha ha ha

So, today is Friday and I'm having the surgery on Tuesday--I will be in touch.Take care everyone and talk real soon.
Babs

Oh Babs, don't underestimate the level of stress you are going through, but as low as the thought remains just that you will be okay. I hope the surgery goes well and that the results are as hoped. I will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts for the operation. X

Will be thinking of you today Babs. Shingles are still around, but not stopping me from doing anything. I'm currently deep cleaning and redecorating my flat as the last tenant left it in an atrocious state and my agents quoted a ridiculous amount to do the work. Spent yesterday up to my elbows in ancient kitchen gunk! Deep clean? Deep joy!
