Random thoughts. The quiet before my kids arrive.
My stepson is supposed to have finished baking cookies and out of the kitchen by 3pm...that’s an hour and a quarter away - but he is gaming and I see no signs of finishing the cookies happening.

I’m not going to remind anyone here. This was discussed days ahead.....ok you can bake undisturbed Christmas Eve, but be out by 3pm as I have to prep for visitors. Hmmm.

CW, I don’t think young people have time goals like we have to live by.

Kathy, I love your “KISS MY FAT ASS!”, it makes me laugh, it really does. I think it just says it all, makes us feel better in an otherwise ‘tense’ situation.

Have a good Christmas Eve my friends s

Hiya guys

Gotta love that comment Kathy, thanks for the chuckle.

Crois, I sense your angst between the lines. I’ve been there with Shaun’s son.

I would just say ok, kitchens mine, You chose to game. His Dad should make him get up and do it out of respect for you and what you need to do, especially as you had discussed beforehand.

Shaun never used to back me up with Josh, so I looked like the ogre. It’s a really stressful place to be.Dad gets out of it well cos he’s not handing out any discipline.

You can only do that for so long before it builds up then you lose the plot !

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your girls.

PJ that’s really sad isn’t it, wishing Santa gets here safely, that’s the world we live in now. So sorry for our kids when they have kids .

I had a great childhood. Everything is so different now.

Suze don’t stress over Christmas love. I’m not feeling the least bit Christmassy either. I just want it to come and go and get past this madness.

I was very surprised when I went to the shops today. Not one Christmas carol playing. The world has gone mad.

Wishing you all a lovely Christmas with your loved ones

Xoxo

Thanks guys.
Well my kids arrived and within just over an hour while I was cooking dinner, they managed to have an argument over activities and screaming at me because I wouldn’t back either one up. One left, the other rebooked her flight and flies home tomorrow at 7am.

Brilliant.

Thanks Suze. I definitely wasn’t a perfect parent when they were teenagers, but they were certainly brought up better than that.

They were better behaved as 5 year olds. It was shocking. My thoughts are, no Christmas bs anymore - I say holiday time for me next year. A new tradition begins.

I’m sorry, CW.

How utterly ridiculous of them to actually up and leave rather than just suck whatever it was up!

Definitely salvage the time and have a good, special holiday for the rest of you. Cater to yourselves and try to shake the foolishness off your back.

What idiots!

Thank you my friends. It was disgraceful.

I drove my daughter to the airport at 5.30am. No words were spoken. Strangely I feel mostly at peace.

The day continues on.

Yes, we are in the hinterland Suze. No cabs or transport here.

Anyway, I forgot my manners too. Merry Christmas everyone. Have a good sleep and hope your days unfold nicely tomorrow.

Itchy, thank you so much for taking the time to share this. I really appreciate it.

Absolutely agree it’s time to apply some of this.

Just passing it on. You said it - applying, not just reading, is key.
