I just got a beautiful and very simple letter from Trach.
He is dismantling the old addict self with all its coping affectations and beginning at ground zero. In his words, “I don’t know who I ‘m going to be when I grow up.”
He’s been sober for 100 days, but he says that’s almost the least of the progress. The counselors have good confidence in his adjustment to the program because he’s not all cocky and ready to conquer the world. Rather, he’s content to remain still and learn.
He has just assessed ways in which others have damaged him and is in the process of letting go of the resentments.
In the next month he hopes to begin assessing the damage he’s done to others, and making heartfelt amends.
The Marchers should be really proud. As Trach says, “This is no short-term ‘band-aid’ program—this is a total rewrite of a life.” He’s all the way in to do it right.

Wow Ken, you really know how to parteee!
Sass, I actually get on ok with the ex- neither of us see the other as a threat and I don't have the same history with her hubby and the kids do, so I don't have any stress. I'll prob end up taxiing her home too so everyone else can have a drink, as she doesn't drive.
Peej, I'll settle for that too!
Thanks for the update Gilmer, I got a Christmas card from him sounding upbeat and asking for folk to stay in touch.
November was always my worst month for coughing up for presents, sadly as the years have passed I have fewer birthdays to celebrate.

Gilmer, thanks for passing on the great news about Trachy. This sounds like an awesome opportunity for him.
Budd, I think laundry seems to be one of the first things we think about/do when we have a few minutes to breathe

well, I think I found a candidate for moron of the year.
A lady that works on 1st shift got a DUI about 4 months ago, work isn't an issue as long as she make sit in on time she's ok.
Thursday one of her shifts coworkers brilliantly decided to give her a bottle for Christmas, which she proceeded to drink that afternoon before getting done with her shift. She is now in rehab and as far as I know nothing is being done to the idiot that gave her the bottle during working hours.
Have a great Christmas everyone!!!! I'm actually off now until Jan 2!!!!!

Wow Budd, you cana ctually catch up on some sleep! Did the idiot know she had a drink problem? Must be some problem if she couldn't even wait to get home from work! Even at my worst at the end I think I would have held back for a few hours just to keep my job!
Hubby was rear ended by a drunk driver yesterday, gson was in the car at the time too. Fortunately both my men are safe, if a bit achey, and the car shrugged off the approx 70mph impact though we need to get the sub chassis checked out to be sure. Daughter is raging, but although driver took off, hubby followed her so gson could take down the number and the police caught her. Not such a good Christmas for that lass, oncar, no licence, a night in the cells, poss lost her job. We just hope she had insurance. It could have been so much worse, we are counting our lucky stars just now.

Budd, yes, I agree on the idiocy!
Oh my, Toots I am glad the men (boys?) are ok. That is scary! I wish all cars had those alcohol locks although they need to be foolproof and are not.
Have a pleasant Christmas Eve day (Christmas for those down under)

it all turned out. Gosh---It really makes you stop and think how things
can turn on a dime.
Having a little bit of a tough day---but, it too will pass.
Have a Very Merry Christmas everyone -----Again, I wouldn't be here without
all of you.

Very glad your men are alright toots.
And I dunno Budd....people do that all of the time, give bottles for Christmas during the day....I am with toots....I would have at least waited a few hours. Sounds like rehab is the best place for that lady.
Hope you don't mind me jumping in. xx
