Part 4! Yay to all of the class who has hung on to be in part 4!

Citrus, your shopping adventure made me laugh. Glad you survived and after a night like that it just feels good to collapse on the couch. Good job just taking deep breathes and being calm through all that.

Tony, I'm glad to hear you did so well. If an HR event does happen, that you won't be part of it! That's a relief, and for the others.. well.. maybe they'll be new members of this forum soon

Strawberry, I'm really glad you didn't drink that wine. With my luck, if I would have tried carrying that in my purse, it probably would have leaked and I would have walked around with a wine smelling purse lol!

To everyone else, Happy Super Bowl Sunday! It's only 6am here. My allergies are bothering me so I had to get up and shower, I couldn't breathe. Now that I'm up, I'm drinking my coffee and forum surfing. I'm about to hit the grocery store, it'll be nice to get in and out before the crowds. It's always especially crazy on super bowl sunday. Just waiting for my son to get up so he can come with me. It's our bonding session, he's 14 and still likes to grocery shop with me. Mainly because I let him pick out a donut to eat while we're there. He's a morning person so I might wake him up now. I wouldn't dare do that with my daughter, she's lets say..not a morning person!

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone! It's so early it's still dark here in NYC, but I'm already awake because I went to bed sober at 10:30 pm and slept seven hours straight through. Maybe I'll need a nap later on but for now, I'm up.

RAL, good luck during the funeral. Stay strong and post if you need to. I believe you'll make it through.

Citrus, what an aggravating sounding day. Good for you for coping so well.

Tony, it must feel great to have gotten through the event sober.

Day 23. I have to remind myself that whatever inconvenience/issues are being caused by not drinking right now, drinking would be worse. I still feel bad about my brief argument with my bf yesterday over brunch, but I also know it's so much better than any of the arguments we used to have when I was drunk. I was actually able to stop, take a deep breath, think clearly through what he was saying, realize he was right and I was wrong, and apologize to him. That never would have happened if I had been drinking.

I also got a bunch of organizing done last night while I was home. My walk-in closet in my bedroom has WAY too much stuff in it and before last night it seriously looked like an episode of Hoarders (and the rest of my place is super clean and tidy so it was always a bit of a shock to open the closet.) It still has way too much stuff in it, but the boxes are neatly stacked now so I can easily reach everything, and I hung up all my clothes, put my shoes and bags away where they belong, etc. At least it's functional now, and I can deal with the extra stuff a little at a time in a way that makes sense.

Hope everyone has a great day.

day 34

Good morning my sober friends, It is almost 6am here. Drinking coffee with hubby. I have had a good weekend. Hubby saw a new specialist on Thurs, He was prescribed new meds. He is feeling a little better. I have enjoyed spending time with him while he is feeling better. I have had a couple of cravings the last couple of days. Did not act upon them. My life is now alcohol free. My outlook is that Alcohol Free is NORMAL and the people that feel the need to get hammered is Abnormal. It is not normal to want to drink poison that will harm our wonderful bodies. Our bodies are a temple and our job is to protect them as must as we possibly can. Well I guess that I will get down off of my soap box and get ready for my day. We have family coming over later to watch the big game. I have some food to prepare. Will go to church this morning. Today is the day that the Lord has made. Stay strong my friends, Stay Sober.

Off to the gym to complete 30 x Sets of Weights on Legs - my least favourite workout of the week. Has to be done though...

The plus side is a delicious salted caramel whey protein drink afterwards though - so I’ll focus on that!

Day 28. This is now officially my longest sober streak.

RAL — glad you’re feeling better!

Sbtw — Do you have any favorite horror movies? I liked these, in no particular order:
The Conjuring
Get Out
Annihilation

A Quiet Place
World War Z
(because I love zombies)
Train to Busan (Korean zombies)
Let Me In

Have a great Sunday, people!

Morning everyone,

Slept like a baby, hit the bed at around 9:30 and woke up at 8:30ish. If I were robbed, I would have not known. Anyway yesterday was a great day with the boys.

Thursday and Friday were very tough. Had a lot of anxiety Thursday evening and Friday. Big battle with my evil side to drink or not. Eventually sobriety won. I am so glad it didn't cave in. Or else I would not have had the great, memorable Saturday I had.

My older son's night out got cancelled, it was great, as I had him for one more day with me, was so excited. The boys studied, while I cleaned the apartment. We then went for a swim (indoor pool), a movie and dinner.

They just woke up and laid out today's plan; study, go to a hardware store to carve out a car for pinewood derby (Cub scout activity), play tennis, hair cut, shower and head to a bar where my colleagues and there kids will be to watch the Superbowl.

I can be so productive and have so much fun. So why do I need a drink?

With alcohol I would have been less productive, driving the boys under influence, risking them, would be hurting the next day, chores still not complete, and only few moments remembered.

So why did I drink?

Tony, Strawberry, glad you 2 came out strong from the tough situation. Congrats!

RAL, best of luck for the funeral.

Travelbug, glad your hubby is doing better in just a few days with the new meds.

SBTS, thanks for reminding me to work on my closet. Next week when the boys are with their mom, will work on it. Didn't realize till I moved to the apartment how much stuff I had accumulated. And there is a lot more still at the old place which I have to get. I better make room for all that stuff.

Hey! Part 4 👍
My wife & son went to a birthday party yesterday. The father of the child having the party is one of those friendly guys who offers you a beer every 10 minutes. I USED to love going there, but didn't feel like needlessly lowering myself into the shark cage with a fish head necklace. I told my wife to say I had to work, which I technically did yesterday, just not at those exact hours
So instead of drinking yesterday, I went into my son's room & ended up having a ball using his PS4. I haven't played video games in a couple years, so I was blown away lol. It was dark when they came home - like not a single light on in the house, aside from the tv upstairs. They came in the bedroom & laughed as I had video game induced bags under my eyes.
Good to read & catch up with you all.
✌💚💪

Hi all!! So, I used to think my longest stretch sober was 3 months. Then, I’d drop off, drink, and come back to SR a year or two later. It has been going on for the last 6-7 years. A cycle.

Come to find out, looking back at my old posts, that I made it to 6 months sober one time. And then, I fell off the wagon. How could I not remember this? Oh, yeah, I am an alcoholic.

I’m a little over 30 days. Help me stay sober this time. Reading all your posts and comments gives me strength. Thanks for letting me share.

Good morning a little late, my house slept in this morning until the neighbor kid knocked on our door at 10. We hadn't seen him in months, I am taking this as a sign that spring is indeed on it's way! Lol.
I got coffee and cinnamon rolls going for a big brunch.
Cleaning and some home repairs are on the to do list today. Luckily we are sports free for a day! I'm even going to rent a movie for tonight instead of watching the superbowl.

You all are making me think I need to clean my closet too. Lol. It's a walk in that is a disaster as well. I think I will work on that in bits while my kids are at school this week.

RAL thinking of you today.

Strawberry it gets better, promise.

JT I loved seeing your day 34 post! Looking forward to 35 as well.

Travelbug I hope your hubby's new meds keep working. Reading that drinking is abnormal my AV perked up and said oh, but we don't like to be normal. I pushed that wicked witch right back into her cage! Great post.

I'll have to check back in later the yongest just walked in to the house bawling covered from head to toe in sand.... oh my.

Hello everyone, and apologies for not posting much, or just posting one liners. My wife has taken to sitting next to me in the evenings and looking over my shoulder, and for some reason, I don't feel comfortable typing responses etc on here with her watching, Silly really, but we humans are a funny breed.

33 day's today and I haven't had a craving for about a week (well I had a little one yesterday but it was so little, I'm not counting it).

Getting tons of stuff done round the house.

Sbtw — Do you have any favorite horror movies? I liked these, in no particular order:
The Conjuring
Get Out
Annihilation
A Quiet Place
World War Z (because I love zombies)
Train to Busan (Korean zombies)
Let Me In
Oh and Bonniefloyd, I love a good horror. You may like -
The Haunting in Connecticut 1 and 2.
Let Me In (More of a vampire film but a really great and sad story).

Not sure if you've seen the series, The haunting of Hill House. I thought I'd hate it, but again, the story is absolutely great, and a good few creepy scenes too.
