A Different Path Part 2
It was a lovely environment. I have such great memories of looking out the window from my desk in early September and watching people chat as they were headed to class!
For essay exams, the professors handed us a blank booklet and we were allowed to go anywhere on campus to take it.
I chose the second floor of a place called Seelye Hall: it was old with a lovely domed ceiling plus a really cool mezzanine!
I was at Smith pretty briefly (just 1977-78), but every house was unique and charming (I lived in Haven House). Plus in those days every house had its own dining room, with home-cooked meals. Thursday nights were candlelight dinners!
I think nowadays multiple houses eat together in a few more central dining halls.

I think over the past couple weeks I’ve experienced my first symptoms: a general bloated feeling in my upper GI (not indigestion or gas), plus an intermittent pain in my right side.
The pain comes and goes, but the bloating seems constant now.

Oh, Trach!
For the buffet reception after my funeral, my younger daughter is going to order that delicious fried okra that I mentioned in Weekenders a couple weeks ago!
Sorry if that sounds macabre, but these things do have to be planned!
Also, i don’t know how they propose to incorporate this at the reception, but I used to joke that I really wanted Pink’s “Get the Party Started” as my post-funeral anthem!
The second I heard that song back in the day (driving my kids to and from school), I went nuts!
Maybe they can squeeze it into a whole mix of songs (though it doesn’t exactly scream the word “gravitas”)!
