One Year & Over Part 54
It's life and just when you think it's settled it unsettles, which isn't always unsettling. Our homeless son phoned in dire straits. He asked for help and to come get him. He walked two days to get here from marshal Texas, an hour by highway at 70 mph. He had nothing but the clothes on his back, torn and filthy. I was glad to see him. I picked him up, took him to get some jeans, sneakers, shirts underwear and socks. A razor and toothbrush. He'd been in Houston as labor cleaning up the soggy house interiors. He only had the dirty clothes on his back and blisters from walking all day and all night. He's sleeping now. Safe, and we'll see what he needs and wants. He's clean and sober which was a nice surprise. Anyway, we'll see if he can charge up for a few days and get a fresh start. He's lost a lot of weight. No we can't have a 45 year old living with us. But it's nice he's OK. I was glad to see him.
Hey, we all have hard relationships and easier ones. Life is a mix of interesting moments, all strung together.

Wise words, as usual Itch. I am glad you can be there for your son.
I went to the lunch. It was a little forced on my behalf- but worthwhile. My struggling friend was there- she had run 40k's this morning- no food. Only had black coffee for lunch, but she has booked into a long term (6 month) recovery program..the kind that wraps the participants in cotton wool from the world..
In the country..no phones..that sort of thing. I do hope she goes- there (like most things) is a waiting list. A long term sober member- at the lunch pulled me asideto give me 'advice' on how to run meetings. I kind of know the dynamics (well- part of my job for 30 yrs..picked up a few skills_, but I did not defend or attack..just thanked them for their words. If it keeps people happy and does not rattle my cage..why not?

I'm so glad your son called and you were able to see him Itchy love.
I can only imagine how much he appreciated some new clothes and things. ♥
And I am glad you are going to the lunch PJ.
The house might have gotten a bit too flattened to fix up, but you are rebuilding and you are doing it from scratch with a ton of courage my friend. ♥

Itch, you da man!
Had a very encouraging visit with Fran yesterday. She was sitting in her souped-up wheelchair. She was able to talk a bit and she was even smiling and laughing as we visited. There were 5 of us there and when the nurse came in, she said it sounded like we were having a party! We stayed for over an hour and it was so good to see much of the "old" Fran once again. She still has a long road of recovery ahead, but I have no doubts she'll make it.
Just about time for my extended Sunday morning nature walk.
Have a Super Sunday, overs!

FG, somehow I get a funny image of you jumping up and down to reach the top of the hedge to trim it
PJ, glad you went to the lunch. As hard as it can be (it sure is for me still!), good for you the way you handled the advice-giver.
FBL, happy to hear Fran was laughing! I instinctively was going to say 'I hope she'll be more careful now' but then stopped to realize that in this phase of life going out doing what we love looks a lot better than slowly declining into oblivion.
Hi Mags, MB, Gilmer, SG, Suze, Tom, IP, RZ, Toots and everyone else!

Hi overs
Itchy, I'm pleased you helped your son, I hope he can keep sober and get his life in order.
PJ, you did good my friend. I've shunned so many lunches, it's good to be around people who understand some part of us.
Hi nogard
Hope it's a good Monday for everyone, it's gusty wind outside.
