One Year & Over Part 54
Hi eternal, pleased you're here and sober.:hi:
Serene, sounds like you had a good day, despite a few hiccups. Congratulations again on your big day. ❤️
Thank PJ and toots, just looking at air quality gauges for the home .

SE, sounds like you have a healthy attitude about the vicissitudes of life (or weddings). How priceless it will be to look back :-). Like Toots, I simply can’t imagine craving kale but there you have it, we truly are all a bit different
Mags, feel better very soon!
Hi Eternal, Andy, Itchy and all.
Have a happy hump day!

Hi Eternal, Andy, Itchy and all.
Have a happy hump day!
I had my psychiatric assessment yesterday. It was .... humbling. And very very uncomfortable, it's strange having two strangers asking you pointed questions about the dark corners of your mind.
I've been prescribed group therapy for social anxiety as well as individual therapy for everything else, ha. And she recommended medication but I'm hesitant, any thoughts on that? It sounds like they could really help but also I am terrified of them because of what happened the last time on the anti-psychotics that that quack put me on.
Anyway must fly off to get ready for work. Have a great Hump Day, Overs.

I would tell my psychiatrist in great detail about the bad experience on the previous medicine. That way he or she will be better equipped to prescribe the right thing.
NEVER trust ANY medical professional but a specialized PSYCHIATRIST for psychiatric drugs. I speak from near-suicidal experience!

IP- Gilly speakes wise words. Do not discredit the benefit meds. may have. I know people who avoid meds. PERIOD. I will most likely be on an anti-d for life. It helps- and it was done with a lot of professional input and support. Stick at it. Keep asking questions. Meds. to me- are not a chemical cure- my depression is not magically lifted, but it helps by reducing anxiety and giving me a level playing field for dealing with every day life.
IP, I also agree with Gilmer and PJ. I’ve been on psych meds for many, many years and they have helped enormously. As did psychotherapy. I also agree about having a psychiatrist prescribe the meds. They can be tricky and it’s a complex field. I gather it’s not at all uncommon to have both alcohol abuse and psych issues - probably not surprising. A good therapist can help us get our issues into better perspective and ultimately to live a happier life.
Catching up from the last few pages
Venus - Congrats! I hope your wedding was amazing!
All is well here. Wedding turned into an episode of survivor - we lost most people on the road and in the dunes on the way to the site, with only 3 people actually making it (when people arrive 45 mins late to an area without cell reception, not much I can do). The same thing happened at the dinner reception following: The dinner still wasn't served over 2 hours after arriving at the restaurant and half the people (mostly with kids) had to leave before they got food. But we're married & have some funny stories that will make us giggle.
Baby is doing well, nausea intermittent & I'm off crutches. Current craving is kale salad, which means things are happily back to normal.
Wishing everyone a great rest of their week!

Our story was complicated....you do not want to know. Really, you don't.
Suffice to say we actually got married on the 24th in our backyard....I was still really sick and look 127 in the photos, but Nick looked beautiful and we're married, which is the important part. All I can really remember about the ceremony was staring at Nick and seeing the love in his eyes.
We are going to have a picnic on the river on the 13th (a year since we met) and restate our vows and take some pictures. Something just for us now that the stress is over with.
Mags ~ hoping you are feeling better, and InPar.....sounds like everyone has given you awesome advice. If I may add ~ if you are unsure, perhaps get a second opinion.
Wonderful to see you Eternal....two threads in one day....nice!
I know it has been a devastating week for America and the world...just sending love to all of you.
HomEternal good to see you are still rocking.
IP ^^ what Peej and Gilmer said. There are some very good new anti psychotics available now and different anti d's, but ensure your doc knows your history. Read up about the one they are advising, be sure you have plenty of support if you have an adverse reaction. Ultimately any decision whether to try the meds or not, is yours, but if it is possible that they will help you live a better quality of life, then I say I would give them a chance if it was me.
When I ran the home, one of my residents had been labels schizophrenic years earlier and put on an older anti psych med. I felt he had different issues and with the support of his cpn, we got his psychiatrist to trial changing his meds. The difference in him even in a short time was amazing, he was so much happier and had a much better quality of life.

I lost a long post because I was logged out. Then I posted a quicker one, and was logged out?? OK this was the last try.
IP only get psychoactive drugs from a Psychiatry specialist.
I am proud of my fellow vets, sheepdogs to the end. We vets don't wonder who will come to help us transport the injured, we will steal a truck, save lives and return the truck.
Read the story of five of my fellow war dogs who make me proud yet again:

Why do we Shhepdogs run to the sound of danger instead of away. Because it is our job to protect the sheep. Any sheepdog who forgets that the sheep are to be protected instead of fed on and fleeced becomes or always was a Wolf.
For my civilian friends, here is an essay by LtCol (Ret) David Grossman titled On sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs.
On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs - Dave Grossman
Our bearing can put off the gentle sheep and frighten them until they need us.
I am so in awe of folks overcoming issues that I have never faced like clinical depression or life changing events like the folks in Las Vegas just went through. I wish I could have been there because I might have saved a few more in addition to the many civilians and vets who faced the problem and did what they could at risk to themselves. HuAh!
Good night my fellow Sheep and Sheepdogs, and our not the bad kind of wolf Wolf.

Morning overs
Inpar' great advice from our fellow overs, I'm like PJ, as I'm on anti D s. I wanted to wean off them eventually, I'm only on a low dose but it does help. Finding out that it wasn't just the booze but a lot of baggage to deal with isn't easy, but to get through it with a sober head and a little bit of help, for me, works. I hope it all goes well.
Itchy, just read the Tom petty interview. So much to live for, It makes you think, doesn't it. Appreciate what we have, strive for a good life, being happy with our lot.
Have a good Thursday overs.

Good morning Overs.
I got a wake up call yesterday.
After a very frustrating day repairing our central heating I was Hungry, Angry(at myself) and dog Tired. And a little voice said 'gee a nice cool beer would be great.'
I stomped on that sucker straight away and finished the job with a smile on my face.
P.S. we are warm again.
Have a good day everyone.
