I'm 51 years-old and have only owned 4 cars in my entire life:

1981 Chevy Citation - Dad got it for me cheap (repo) in 1984 as a high school graduation gift. Got me all thru college (1984-88).

1989 Plymouth Sundance - Bought new with money from my first "real" job at the radio station. Had from 1989-95, put on 150,000 miles.

1995 Ford Escort - Bought new with money saved from my current job. This was my true "drinking car". Sad to say, I drove that thing drunk too many times. Had from 1995-2009. Close to 200,000 miles.

2010 Toyota Corolla - This is my current car. I bought it as a "gift" to myself for getting sober. I'm proud to say that it never has (and hopefully never will) be driven by a drunk. It's the most reliable car I've ever owned. Just hit 93,500 miles the other day. Hope to have it for many more years.

Have a Happy Hump-Day, overs!

What irony, with 'hand' metaphors...as it seems I will most likely have to have more surgery on my hand. It burns me up. (haha).

I’m sorry, PJ. That must be a wearying and frustrating prospect. I hope the surgery is a significant help.

Gilly- my metaphor for this stuff...all the previous surgery/procedures were life necessary. This time- it will be to release contractures skin on my hand- by adding more skin by grafts. Also to 'clean' up my elbowy nerve- possible growths around it. So metaphor is...my gutted house had just been rebuilt. Now it is time to paint it- and add the furniture.

Those Corollas will last forever. My sister in law had one for 21 years!

Morning overs

Fbl, you certainly look after your cars. I had a ford escort in the 80's, it was so reliable. I have a Ford Fiesta now, it's only small 4 door (5 with boot!) but it's got turbo and because its Eco I don't qualify for road tax. It goes like a tipping engine! It's got guts. Petrol consumption great too, I love it.

PJ I love your metaphors, you speak so well.

Love to all my overs family

Morning SG.

A tired Toots today, did t sleep well, lots of aches and pains after the painting, from looking and reaching up probably. Ho hum. All done for that room anyway.
My first car was a fiat 500 called Dot. My favourite car was my RX8 with my current Range Rover Sport coming a close second. I did have an MG Midget that I loved, seeing them now they look so tiny against modern cars!

Can I just take a moment to thank and appreciate all of you kind people. I'm so glad just for your presence here, it's a real positive force in my life. Just comin ghere and reading the ups and downs of your lives makes me feel more connected than I am to some people that are in my own life......and the wisdom and knowledge, experience here is just amazing! I think we could solve the world's problems if someone gave us the chance!

I'm just plugging along here, making keeping calm my number one priority in life, running and doing yoga and trying to cut down on the coffee and eating well.....trying to find ways to stay off the meds. I have been feeling a bit better.

Have a Thunderous Thursday as FBL likes to say!

IP- this community is more just a check-in for me too. This virtual community are made up of real humans. It supports and reminds me of hoe absolute CRAP boozing was. And also- I can get stuff out in the open it would not be appropriate to air with people around me. Good post.

I am running my lunch topic meeting today. I have a patterns of choosing confronting and challenging stuff- simple in concept, perhaps the more elemental ones- like anger, fear, resentment, self-forgiveness.
So today I am going to look at something positive- which is a good feel one. I let y'all know..same bat time/same bat channel.
That reminds me- the original TV Batman with Adam West is one tonight- every Friday at 1800.. One of those cyclic series which gets popular every 10 years or so.

IP, you're a positive force too! I love your can-do spirit.

I learn from all types at SR, but there's just something extra special about this group. Building long term sobriety gives us a unique perspective. The overs will always have a special place in my heart.

Good morning Overs.

We had a great day yesterday, brush cutting an area where orchids grow. Mrs T had her midday nap in the sunshine.

DD15 has her physio today.

Have a good day everyone.
