STDragon I'm sorry you had to go through this. Your "friend" may have been speaking from a position of ignorance (as opposed to malice) but that doesn't make it your job to educate him. Because we have history with someone doesn't mean we are obligated to keep them in our lives. You owe him nothing.

So sorry Dragon.

One thing that sobriety has taught me is that I don't have to suffer fools. I feel no guilt ditching relationships that are not mutually beneficial. Perhaps one day, this "friend" will see the light.

Hi STDragon

I dunno about you but I've changed through the years - I like to think for the better. The friends I had 30 or 30 years ago are not necessarily the friends I want or need today.

Its obvious you're very worried about your daughter, and I think that were your focus needs to be.

Hauling off on this guy may make you feel better for a minute, but that's about it. Forget the jerks. They're not important.

I exercise til I drop. No more anger.

Best wishes to you and your family

D

Thanks everyone. At the time this happened I had more important things going on and so I buried it. I guess I never really started processing my feelings until now.

oh DEE ! ! ! you said it ! ! ! that's what I needed to hear myself. I've been having a pitty party and I'm disgusted with someone right now and I don't need it. and a person has to stop wasting energy on something that upsets you. Yes, Exercise and keeping busy . I'm not running from the situation I'm just not going to dwell on it ! ! ! thank you ! ! !

FBL who is that in your avatar?
I noticed you didn't have Gordon Downie up, one of Canada's greats passed away of cancer last week, at age 53. The lead singer of The Tragically Hip, arguably Canada's most beloved band.
Spent his last year advocating for First Nations' rights.

Good morning Overs.

Toots I think you have the beginnings of a game show there. Wall papering with fingers crossed, making pancakes with fingers crossed, tying your shoe laces with your fingers crossed. The possibilities are endless.

Have an uncrossed day everyone.

Peej, you have a lot going on in your world that means you are dealing with a lot of personal emotions. I'm not sure how healthy it is for you to also always be dealing with the obviously forceful emotions of others in recovery. Regardless of how much we say we are not allowing someone else's emotions to affect us, when we are confronted with them it is impossible not to be, at some level.

Helen, sounds like something that would happen to me! I started a job with the council and shortly after the contract went to tender, and the council lost out. To ease the transition, they paid us all a lump sum regardless if time served ( though those there after a certain period got redundancy). So after only working for them a few weeks I got a big lump sum, and then taken on by the new guys with a pay hike! Woohoo!

Andy, if it runs, I want credit! ( fingers crossed!)

Sass, I got the work done, watched a few YouTube videos first to get some tricks and techniques. I think it looks good, I imagine hubby will find the few places where it's not perfect!

Dragon, my initial thought on reading your friend was trying to contact you was perhaps he wanted to apologise. But regardless, your decision to remove him from your life is a wise one.
The older I get, the easier it is to remove negative influences from my life. I realise I no longer have to try to please everyone, or be liked by everyone. I also do not have to spend time around people who drain my energy.

Have a Thought provoking Thursday my friends

Dragon, over the years i’ve Occasionally tried to reconnect with someone from my past. I haven’t regretted it but I have discovered that we have all changed and it hasn’t worked out so far. Dee shares good advice!

In case you’ve noticed my typing has gotten worse, my fruity tablet has a new OS which has some definite bugs related to the virtual keyboard!

Have a happy hump day!
