Holiday or no holiday, I had my usual Monday session with my trainer. After warmups I did three rounds of:

Incline Db chest presses
Incline chest flyes
Incline Bb skull crushers
Planks
Leg raises
Ab wheel rollouts

I'm not sure what our afternoon activity will be, hopefully something outside to take advantage of the great weather. Dinner tonight is going to be the beef dish I described yesterday served over cauliflower rice. There will also be a salad.

I'll be going to the gym tonight for an upper body oriented workout.

Dinner tonight is going to involve boneless chicken breasts with a lemony profile and a salad.

Like my GP he said that some of the readings were inconsistent with each. He wants me to have a CAT scan of my abdomen as well as additional blood and urine tests and we talked far too long, which means in my book anything longer than zero, about chronic kidney disease. WTF??! At this point he doesn't want me to make any dietary changes so I'll continue on my merry way.

To say I'm a bit shaken would be correct, but what's most important is how I'm going to deal with it. Firstly, I'm going to do all that was recommended and secondly I'm going to the gym this afternoon to punish some iron.

It's just me and my wife for dinner tonight; what I'll be cooking still needs to be decided.
Many prayers continue, GC!!!

Have your more recent bloodwork results come back yet, GC?

SL, thanks for your good thoughts, words, and concerns about my health. I have not taken another blood test yet; my thinking is that I want to do it relatively close to my follow up appointment with the specialist (Sept. 29) so that he can get the most current reading available. I should have scheduled the CT scan today, but didn't so that's a deviation from my plan.

Change In Exercise Plan

Instead of lifting tonight I'm going to do some home based exercises and hit the gym early tomorrow morning.

I was at the gym by 6 AM and had a good workout. Lots of high rep low weight exercises that was followed by high intensity interval cardio work. I was pretty gassed, but it was fine way to start the day.

Dinner tonight is going to be grilled pork chops and a garden salad. I'm also going to be smoking another turkey breast.

Exercise for the day is going to be walking, pushups, and planks.

I have no idea what I'm making for dinner because I don't know who is going to be home. It could be four of us or it could be two. Or three.

My exercise for the day has been walking, pushups, and planks as planned.

Along with my wife we picked out our new kitchen counter tops and tiles for our bedroom bathroom. The work starts Monday. Of greater importance was that I recently submitted my football pool picks for the first week of the NFL season.

Dinner tonight is going to be sloppy joes with red potato oven fries. What about the carbs that certain family members are avoiding at dinner you may ask. They were the ones who made the suggestion, so the "rules" apparently are not set in stone when they want to deviate.

I've spent most of the day so far waiting for the delivery of the counter tops and they just came. I am not a fan of Home Depot and the experience gave me one more reason to solidify my position. The delivery window given to me yesterday for today was 6 AM to 8 PM, with an assurance that I could track my delivery today and also that I would be given a phone call "well in advance" of the actual delivery. Tracking online was not possible beyond "Your order is being processed." and all I got from speaking with four people at the store was that they could only give me the name of the sub contractor making the delivery, but had no phone number and that the company did not respond to consumer inquires. A message left with the store manager has not yet been returned. Oh yes, that phone call well in advance of delivery was made when the truck was parked in front of my house. Clearly there are definitional differences in the term.

Exercise today is going to be much like yesterday, walking, pushups, and planks. I'll be moving some iron tomorrow.

My wife and I have no social plans tonight; dinner is going to be something involving chicken breasts.

By all who attended and including the trainer, it was agreed that yesterday's strength and stamina class was one of the toughest to date. After that the family went apple picking, which was a lot of fun, but it also meant hours on our feet. After what transpired yesterday and a poor night's sleep in part due to going to bed too late for no good reason I wasn't expecting much at the gym today, but I had a great workout. I love pleasant surprises like that.

For the most part my nutrition has been sub par starting Friday night. Friday and Saturday dinners were pub food and yesterday I had a freshly made apple cider donut at the orchard. I usually don't indulge in sweets, but it was delicious. My wife tried to justify eating them by stating that they were healthy because they used really fresh apples and made everything on the premises. Even she couldn't get through that one with a straight face.

I probably have an afternoon dog walk in my future and then we'll have to attend to some prep work for the contractors.

Dinner is going to be grilled or baked chicken breasts served over a garden salad.

My contractors started working on my kitchen today which meant that I couldn't meet with my trainer for my normal Monday morning session. Plans for going tonight have gone awry because my wife and I have to make some unexpected purchases of supplies for tomorrow's work.

Dinner? I have no idea when, where, or what it's going to be.

My attempt at an evening workout last night was thwarted by a necessary trip to Home Depot that took up about 2.5 hours. Since there were stylistic issues involved I waited for my wife and we didn't get home until about 8:45. [Sarcasm] It was a wonderful way to spend an evening. [/sarcasm]. Dinner was a rotisserie chicken that my daughter picked up on her way home from the gym.

Exercise for today is going to be pushups and planks. I don't think I'm going to have use of my kitchen so either I'm going to grill something for dinner or we'll order something.

Going forward, my plan is to be at the gym tomorrow AM for a six o'clock strength and stamina class.

Last, but certainly not least I won the opening week of my football pool so for the next six days I'm a genius and king of the hill. It would be nice to write the same thing next Tuesday, but my brilliance may be fleeting and I'll likely see vastly different results.

I'm in no manner comparing my situation with what's going on in Texas and the southeast, but the house is in disarray. With reason and purpose, but normality is not a word I would use to describe the situation. Which it's why it's a perfect time to host a dinner party for my book club on Friday, have out of town friends visit on Monday, have my wifey relatives from across the pond stay with us starting next Wednesday, host a holiday dinner party the next day for about ten people, and next weekend have a family party with about 30 attendees. As the saying goes, timing is everything.

I was at the gym this morning at 6 for a strength and stamina class. Waking up early enough to fuel my body and get somewhat limber isn't much fun, but it's only one day a week and I really do like getting so much done early in the day.

I still have an unusable kitchen and I don't want to order in again so I'm making burgers and a salad for dinner tonight. I've put together a menu for Friday's book club meeting as well as exploring some take out options in case I won't be able to cook.

Dinner last night was grilled hamburgers and a garden salad served on paper plates with plastic utensils. I'm not sure about tonight; I'll know in a couple of hours if I have a semi- workable kitchen. Even if it is, there is still work that needs to be done tomorrow so I'm leaning toward ordering food from a local restaurant for my book club meeting; this will be a first for me as I've always cooked for my guests, but I'm coming to the conclusion that this multi decade streak will be coming to an end.

Exercise for the day is going to be at home: pushups and planks with a (very) little amount of stretching.

The dirty deed is done. After about 35 years of cooking for guests I'm ordering in for the first time for tomorrow's book club meeting. My kitchen is marginally useful and I'll be able to cook for me and my wife tonight, but I'd be severely compromised trying to cook for eight people tomorrow. The menu tonight is pan seared shrimp with Old Bay Seasoning and a salad. Quick and not a lot of pots/pans/utensils needed.

I've done 75 pushups in 3 sets of 25 with a one minute rest; the last set was a struggle and I needed some additional time to get off the floor. I also did about 5 minutes of planks. As for the aforementioned stretching, that probably won't happen.

Exercise for the day is going to be the same as yesterday. I did get a "bonus" early this morning chasing after my dog who made a run for it chasing some animal. Fortunately she was able to get across a busy street near our house and not get hit by some late to work commuter. Ironically, we're fencing in the yard starting tomorrow.

As has been expressed in previous posts no cooking of note for me today as I'm ordering in the entrees and going the store bought route for appys and desserts. I'll get razzed by the boys for not cooking, but the book was well received so it's all good.

Yesterday morning and this morning found me at the gym doing my usual weekend stuff. Right now I'm taking a break from some house projects and later today we'll be taking my MIL out to dinner after going over some legal documents with her.

I was at the gym for my normally scheduled Monday session with my trainer. After warm ups I did 3 rounds of:

Incline Bb bench presses
Incline Db flyes
Incline Bb skullcrushers
Lat pulldowns
Push ups
Standing Bb curls
Planks
Leg raises

The house is still in disarray, but we should have a functioning kitchen and dining room by tomorrow. That won't help for tonight when we have some friends coming over for dinner so we're going to a local restaurant.

I was at the gym at 6 this morning. After warm ups that included too many pushups IMHO, we did four rounds of:

Kb swings
Pushups
Planks into pikes with gliders
Heavy bag cleans with a squat
Burpees with lateral box jumps after each one
TRX table top rows

There was one additional exercise in the sequence which came after the pushups that I can't remember. :bang:

Dinner tonight is going to be grilled shell steaks with a to be determined veggie as the side.

To all who celebrate, happy new year.
