You're not going to to believe this--you'll surely think I'm making it up.
When I went to the supermarket today, what new product do you think they had on display at the checkout?
Tim Tams!
My tenant's mom brought some over when she visited from Sydney.
Let's just say they're really, really good, and I'm psyched that they'll be readily available here from now on!

One batch of cookies done. The ANZAC biscuits. Crispy perfection (though half of them burned and stank up the kitchen)!
A little rest, then onto the wedding cakes.
Then my checklist will be done, and I can go back to sleep.
Since I've been sober, I'm forever making checklists with goals--sometimes I meet them and sometimes I don't; but I find it keeps my brain from meandering.

pssshhh. I put alcohol in everything because I am an alcoholic.
Welcome to SR, Glimmer. Take a look around. We didn't need an excuse to drink, so eggnog was like coke was like lime juice was like...
I'm just glad I've broken that association with eggnog. That first sober Christmas I didn't even buy any.

Hi tomls!
I quit drinking eggnog during the holidays years ago because it cut the flavor of my liquor, and added cost. All these associations are starting to make me queasy.
I think I'll give eggnog a sober "pass" and focus on today.

I have tried to make Christmas a time of light. My BFF died in July and she and I used to make my house light up, the trees in the yard, the walls inside. Now no BFF, only a husband who, frankly could give a darn about Christmas since his mother died on Christmas eve years ago. I am trying not to be sad but I just yelled at him for making me sad. Its clearly not just him, but his lack of interest and my frustration and sadness of having to live without her is building up. I am now going to take the dogs out for a walk. I am going to talk to someone who is remotely happy. Drinking is not tempting but screaming is.
Get a hug from a friend today, Mklove. You can return the favor another day.
