Australian Woman Leaves A $4.3 Million Dollar Surprise For The Homeless In Her Will
Hey gang,
It's 8:30 Christmas Eve here. Kind of feels strange not having cold weather or snow. I just got back from my parents house. Chatted with my brother, sisters and my parents. Aunts and uncles showed up as well as nieces and nephews.
We just opened a couple presents as it's kind of a tradition in our family to do so on this night.
Hope everybody is having a wonderful day/night.

Merry Christmas everybody.
It was quite a day. Opened gifts this morning and then cleaned up to get ready for company. One ham done, and all the fixings and the inlaws all over for a feast. Just relaxing now and watching a bit of TV. I like the old Christmas Carol 1951 with Alastair Simms. Anyways, hope everybody is having a nice day/night.

Hi all. Good to see everyone has had a good Christmas. Have spent some really nice time with my family - my children lost their other grandparent (on my ex husbands side) and had the funeral last week when I last posted, so I was glad I could be present for them, give them the love and support they needed.
Despite that and my mothers death anniversary, it was a beautiful Christmas...and received some beautiful messages and people shared some lovely memories of my Mum. It's funny, it felt like so many Christmases were ruined by her drinking, that even when my alcoholism was at its peak, I would never, ever drink too much in front of my children on Christmas Day. I also realised, that in reality, it was probably only 4 Christmases my Mum ruined before I left home, that those memories really affected me. to the point I start to get really upset if I think anything is going to ruin Christmas, I couldn't bear it, lol.
So it was wonderful. And I am so glad to be at this point, no longer wracked with guilt about drinking. It's been a blessed year, really.
Leshar, did you end up doing your volunteering in Christmas Day? I think you are right to adjust your travel plans re the wedding if it's been playing on your mind. We must always prioritise our sobriety and we can do it, 'cos God knows we rearranged EVERYTHING for our drinking. The effort and commitment must be the same to get sobriety results, I really believe that. We can't just live our life the same way, minus drinking.....I have learned that doesn't work, ever.
As an aside, last minute, I found out my father was hoping to spend Christmas Day with me and reconcile. I knew no good would come from being emotionally blackmailed into it, so I didn't. He is the child of a chronic alcoholic (as in never got sober), his large family wildly dysfunctional, and I have no doubt now about decisons I make to protect my emotional well-being. When we don't have the crutch of alcohol, Leshar, I do believe we need to do whatever it takes to keep us stable. My Dad would just be poisonous to me right now and potentially forever. I'm ok with that. So long story short, (or long, lol!) - I think you did the right thing.

Hello everyone,
I'm glad to see that everyone had a good, sober, Christmas.
Croissant, thanks for your support about my changing my travel plans. I agree with Dee, that you made the right decision about your father. What a sense of entitlement he had, to presume upon your plans at the last minute.
Yes, I had a great evening volunteering with my friend. It was busy, noisy, we served 150 guests. There were turkeys prepared with recipes from various countries, to reflect the nationalities of the guests. Tons of food! Everyone was enjoying it. We all cleaned up, washed up after and it was a good bunch of people, we all worked well together. I'm really glad I did this.
I had a lovely time visiting with my friend. I'm so glad I went!
I'm a bit tired now, so I'm glad to just have the evening to relax!
Hope all are well!
