At some point, not today, I might be able to describe this amazing species of tree. The phrases I’ve read to describe it include “epiphytic strangler” “obligate mutualism” and “inverted inflorescence.” It’ll take me a little while to learn what all that means. And to see its birds: the wompoo fruit-dove, the pied currawong, the satin bowerbird, and Lewin's honeyeater.
Ficus macrophylla, the Moreton Bay fig, native to the east coast of Australia. This image shows one of the tree’s characteristics, buttressing, where roots form wall-like structures to support the huge bulk of the tree.
For me, a daily commitment helps build a buttress of support for sobriety. I hope to see you all here tomorrow!

Beautiful tree. It reminds me of the Banyan trees in South Florida - also a subspecies of Ficus.
Those roots get into everything, though...including the shower walls. My mom had to completely redo a bathroom that became overrun with roots. Water-seeking geniuses

Here for a sober day. Feeling TIRED like you wouldn't believe.
Hard to focus on things at work...Feels like i'm dragging my way through today.
Anyone else experienced feelings like this? I'm coming up on 5 months sober and well...It's been and UP and DOWN ride.
Just tired. But i'm here. And sober!
