The kid also heard another frog calling, that night he spent roaming the swamps and staring at the heavens. It might have been this one:
Lithobates sylvaticus aka Rana sylvatica, the wood frog. A few cool things about this frog: it's an "explosive, early-spring breeder"; it breeds in "ephemeral pools" -- meaning very large puddles; and it can survive being frozen. Here’s a lot more detail on this interesting species:

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone...... New format is nice!
Today is Picnic Day. Who doesn't love a picnic- sitting on a blanket with your loves and sharing bread, meat, cheese....
Did you know that a “picnic” ham is really not a true ham? It is cut from the upper part of the foreleg of a pig – a true ham is cut from the hind leg.
Italy’s favourite picnic day is Easter Monday. It is called “Angel’s Monday” or Pasquetta (“Little Easter.”)
After an ant has visited your picinc, it lays down a scent as it returns to the nest for the other ants to follow!
In the year 2000, a 600-mile-long picnic took place in France to celebrate the first Bastille Day of the new millennium.
The first table designed specifically for picnics (in a style similar to what we know today) appeared in the late 1800s.
Have a great day, all. I'm here for 24 more hours of sober time. Still sick, but still going away for the weekend!

Quick check in for 24 more please... Busy busy busy.
If I get any busier I'm sure I'll pass myself going the other way....
Still sober and feeling good about it. My counsellor asked me "do you realize just how much you've achieved, how far you've come?"
My answer was I hadn't given it much thought.
He told me to take a step back and try to look at myself from someone else's point of view, then and now.
Eye opening. I'm sometimes too hard on myself I think, It's hard to see change. It's a bit like your hair growing, you don't notice the change day on day but all of a sudden you look in the mirror and think "I really need a haircut". It didn't get that long overnight....
Anyway, off to bed.
Stay safe all
