Welcome Alynn! Day 2 here and like Nashv, I know all too well the hiding of things from my husband and kids. I don't think I ever fooled them but the sting of embarrassment bites so I will continue to think I did. At least for now. I look at others and I'm so envious because I think what would it be like to not be such a drunk. Ouch that bites too. Right now I'm concentrating on doing this for MYSELF. I just want to be able to go to bed with dignity and be able to have a healthy restful sleep among many other things but that's my big one right now.

Here's a tip for those sleepless nights. I take my smartphone (android) but it can be anything to connect to data...AA speaker tapes..."Odomology" (youtube) speaker tapes, Father Martin "Chalk Talks" (you tube)...a pair of comfortable ear bud speakers...just lay in the dark and listen. You'll doze off eventually. There are thousands and thousands of these recordings available online. Check them out !

If you do fall asleep, it will be a peaceful restoring sleep. Your subconcious mind will soak up the info like a sponge. You dont have to do anything. Just listen.

Dont get any simpler.
DD

P.S. It doesnt work with music. Music gets you "hyped" up.

[QUOTE="martina12;5135199"] I'm with Canguy on sugar hits...I seem to have swopped the alcohol for a full blown chocolate addiction. I bought 2 large slabs of chocolate today and made a very rich chocolate cake..Oh dear lol /QUOTE]
Same Martina.
I don't normally eat chocolate, I don't really care for it. Plus chocolate and peanuts sometimes give me cold sores. Anyway yesterday I did a intense yoga session, came home, at a whole packet of chocolate M&Ms then crashed out in some sugar coma. Haha!
Day 10 here!
Wow wee...

Last night I found an unofficial podcast for recovery called Recovered. Earbuds in and listened for awhile and feel asleep. I always listen to kind of podcast, sermon, meditation to go to sleep. This recovered podcast is awesome!

....evening...

...to all the January people.

Welcome to the latest arrivals, Alynn, Robinson,

ting, I'm trying cacao....the stuff they make chocolate out of by adding sugar and mikfat. Will see if its the choc or the sugar that affects.

Home again after a quiet day at work and just sitting in the kitchen here, hot southerly outside and the fridge humming away behind me. This is definitely a drinking moment....but I don't really feel it as an urge, or something I desperately crave . This is just one of those slightly flat moments that alcohol would pick up for a short while.

This early sobriety sometimes feels like a very fragile cage. There's not much holding you in there really. I don't find myself thinking how good it would be to drink. I just look at the weary inevitability of what would follow if I did.

Go get busy....Day 13 in the morning

G'nite

Wow, straight cocoa powder, that is hard core! I love chocolate but unfortunately for me I take it with a generous mixture of fat and sugar.
