KimsFriend and Chris - nice to hear from you. Really happy you have both stuck with sobriety.

I have some contact info for Ary...I'll contact her off-site near the end of the month.

Just reached 50 weeks sober tonight! It is amazing looking at that number. Looking back at the sober first few hours of hell and disorientation, then days ticking by each seeming to last a month. Having to practically slap my hand to not reach for the bottle.

Finally now I go days without thinking about booze and actually get work done.

Thanks to all for the help, understanding and encouragement.

Who's going to be the chair of the one year sober celebration? Bimini?

Welcome, MarchingOn.

Congrats, Disco. It is pretty amazing to feel and live the differences, isn't it?

I'm not one to organize stuff, so you guys will have to free-form the celebration.

Doesn't seem like 6 days since I have been on SR

Just too much work and not enough free time for me! Going to try to go out camping tomorrow after work. Just for the night, have to be at work Sat morning. It will seem like a mini vacation just to get out though.

51 weeks and counting down to my "free form" celebration with my fellow Marchers.

Bimini, you are a short timer for a year now! Any word from Aarry?

Thanks for the invite Trach. We'll see. I am not doing that good of a job visiting here often enough.

As far as crowing about being sober ... every time I think about it I remember all the wasted years. Having said that I am happy to be on a better path now.

Not going camping. Everybody I was going with wimped out because it is going to be windy. They call 28-25 mph with gusts to 35 windy! Would make for a significant wind chill with the temps a few degrees below freezing.

I have always liked going snow camping because of the solitude. Only a few folks stupid enough to go camping that time of year. One always has the pick of the campsites in January!

Have a great and sober weekend!

I like winter camping as well. Lonely out there. I've only got gear for 20F but, I live in Georgia. Beach camping at Christmas is a favorite of mine. I've done Cumberland Island and the Cohutta wilderness in February. Getting the itch lately to go again.

I know. Doesn't it!

I wouldn't say (ever) that it's been an easy one. I've been in some really dark places, but with a load of help and wisdom from the AA fellowship and my sponsor (and some from the councillor that my boss referred me to when she was really worried about me) I have definitely found myself in a sunnier place this year.

I had a moment of overwhelming gratitude on the way to work yesterday, and my boss was a bit worried to see me with tears in my eyes. Lovely to be able to tell her that they're happy tears, and give her a hug and thank her for her support.

Still a long way to go, but at least I've found the right mountain to carry on up it.

No, definitely not easy!! And there have been some real lows (I'm in one now) but still very worth it, I know that much
