Started out the day good but now I'm uncertain. Getting weird, depressed funky vibes from the hubby, mostly I think because the land of no pay is looming.
He doesn't have his interview now at the cargo airline until Wednesday of next week.
My God I hope he gets it!
Its going to be REALLY tight if he doesn't! Like -400.00 short a month. OUCH.
That's not counting food by the way.
So anyhoo. Been pretty busy here at work lately. Well not exactly BUSY but steady. You know the kind where you have 10 to 30 minutes between a customer/task/etc.

Oh ds has been getting into tons of trouble at school. For some odd reason I think its because of something that occurred earlier this week that I didn't write about.
We received a note from his teacher on Wednesday requesting formally that DS be enrolled in the G&T program. They advised in the letter that DS shows that he is pretty gifted and so next year they will be "FORMALLY" testing him.
At that point he will be going to extra classes and all. I hugged him on Wednesday when he came running up to me and asking me "Mama, is it good? Did I do good? Did Ms. ~~~~~ give you a good note!?" I told him "absolutely! This letter is just from the teacher saying you're a super smart kid and you'll be hanging out with other super smart kids!"
I don't know if this was a mistake on my part or not.

This weekend DS has a very boring weekend ahead of him. Filled with chores, homework and reading. No DS, No WII, NO TV.

As for me, well us. We have grocery shopping, then tomorrow afternoon I go to the spa for one last indulgence (that I almost didn't book). I'm getting my hair cut, colored, highlights, etc.
Last time I got my hair cut and colored was in Nov. before we left MD. IT IS SO OVER DUE!
I'm so grey!

Well almost quitting time here. I'm tired. I'm tired of stressing over money and we haven't even hit the TOUGH time yet!
Sigh.

Well whatever, still here, still sober. All else is good. Guys keep your prayers said for us. I need it!

I showed up for an appointment a week early this week too! Praying extra prayers that DH lands this job at the cargo company....your family deserves to settle into a comfortable routine

I can't even imagine what my hair would look like without color since Nov! Enjoy your spa day

Munch: I'm confused on DH's pay. My XH retired from AD AF years ago. He gets paid monthly his retirement pay. So why doesn't DH get paid his retirement pay? Did y'all opt out to get paid later on down the road? Even though I was working full time for the ARNG! I don't get paid retirement pay until I'm 65. Eleven more years to go!

I'm guessing you are the glue that holds your little family together. DH leans on your support a lot. Reassure him that he's already been offered a job. It may not be the one he wants? But it's a job. He can continue looking while he's working. He'll learn to get back in the groove of going to work every day too. He might even learn to really like the job he's been offered. And there might even be advancements he can step into later on.

DS sounds like one smart little guy! Is there a library there you can take him too? I'm sure there are things there that will hold his interest. When I was younger! Mom would take me to the book mobile. Oh how I loved walking in there. And RV full of books being brought to my home area. I'd pick out several books for checking out and then we'd leave. I couldn't wait to get home to read them. It sounds like he's not being challenged enough at school. He's super bored!

You are a magician at cooking! You'll figure out how to feed the family with less money. Have faith in yourself! Go online and research for meals made with less. That will give you some ideas too.

I'm at that stage of needing to get into a chair to get my hair done too. I can color it myself, but not the highlights if I have to. I have really long hair with bangs. I can trim my own bangs so that saves me from having to go get it done. I can color it too which saves money. So I'm not out a lot of money every month or every other month like some are. I bring my own color when I do get it done though. She charges me $60.00 and I give her a $20.00 tip. So I'm good on the hair front!

I comb my bangs down in front. Spray them with hairspray to hold them in place. And then trim them. Easy to do.

Oh wait, no sorry TOD I forgot to add that. Yes, dh does get a retirement paycheck but that amount should cover just the house. None of the other bits (car payment, a credit card, insurance, telephone bill, daycare, electric bill)
That's where mine is short at. I don't make enough to cover all of it.
Well as for today, sigh. Its always fun trying out a new hair stylist. This young lady underestimated how much natural red my hair has in it. Color with highlights turned into, as dh said it "a box color job" I kind of agree with him. Its very red, with red highlights. The young lady offered to work on it a bit more next weekend for free. Now that I'm home and I've seen it I think I will take her up on the offer.
I might see if I can take a couple of hours this week during the week to get it fixed.
One big thing I did notice out of all of this though? You know when you are sitting there for a while and you have your reflection there right in front of you. You can see all your positives and negatives? Well I noticed that I have noticeably less fat around my face now a days. I can see my cheekbones, EASILY. I barely have the bit around my chin and jaw. I just found that pretty neat. I mean my clothes have all been fitting me even better which means I have tons more to wear now, and really nice stuff to wear at that. That was all bought during the days when I didn't have a child so I had tons of $$$ and tons of time to go shopping. So I am finding that pretty cool.
Another positive. DS and I every couple of nights do sit ups and planks and squats together. Well DH actually pushed the table out of the way tonight and joined us!!! Very cool.

Its funny you say that TOD, my therapist has said the same about me. However she's also said that I fit a lot into the child of an alcoholic parent bit. I'm a big people pleaser, one of my biggest cons about myself, imho. I do just about anything to make and keep people happy. Sometimes that means I fluff up DH. Sometimes that's good but many times I don't let him fall flat on his face when he screws up. I swoop in and save the day. (many many times). I told my therapist, only issue with letting him fall flat on his face? He'll take me with him over and over and over again, monetarily. When he makes mistakes, many times they are costly ones. And DH very rarely learns from his mistakes so it means I will be constantly swooping in to help. Honestly I usually just remind myself that I too have faults and he puts up with mine so......

As for the cooking, yup, I'm already there. We do (during more plentiful times) cook elaborate fancy meals with exotic ingredients but we've been through some really tough times too and I've gotten awfully good at making a whole fryer last for about 3 different dinners. There was a time when DH was just an E4 (specialist) that he was selling plasma just so we could eat. I was going through knee surgeries then so I wasn't working.

Well as for hubby on the job front. He just also got a haircut today, him and DS, while I went grocery shopping at the commissary. Saved $10 in coupons. Nice.
I did have one splurge. Got a caramel macchiato on a prepaid Starbucks card for me and a kids hot chocolate with extra as we call it "whip whip" (whip cream) for DS. DH elected to have none of any of it. I'm thinking it was because I insisted he weigh himself "so I can get credit at Walgreens for his weighing in" Mostly I just wanted him to realize how bad his weight is really getting.

So regarding DS. Yup, he's a smart kid. Most of the time I'm super proud of him, when he's not doing stupid stuff like yelling at other kids or what not. Right now he's reading Call of the Wild by Jack London. I'm so glad to see him reading such big books! He asked to read Harry Potter (like book 3, 4 or 5) but I said those are a tad bit big for him. I'm shocked he even asked to read those!

Well gotta run for a few. I've been sitting here with a mask on my face while dh plays resident evil 6. I gotta wash it off.

Still here, still sober!

At work today. You know I saw a friend post on Facebook something like "I'm so grateful I have my job. Not because I have to work. Because I want to" or something or another like that. That applies here now.
This job, this office is so much more different than in Maryland. I'm happy to go in to work each day. Yeah, I gotta sometimes deal with my coworker who sometimes is really late but even that doesn't bother me. Its peaceful in the morning anyways when I'm by myself. Quickly running around the office, getting things done. Being productive. Getting the job done.
There is satisfaction in that.

So DH was supposedly going running today. Super happy about that. He needs to do stuff like that. It'll make him feel better about himself and he also really needs to lose some weight.
We've been doing sit ups, planks and squats every other night or so at home. All three of us. Becomes a fun little 15 minute family time of us all laughing as DS shakes his bum to Shakira, or the cat attacks my hair or my leg, or as DS and I are accidentally falling into each other or what not.
I'm glad dh is joining in.

DS has his Science fair today. He has to give a presentation on it. He was looking all nice in his new v neck knit sweater (not really new, picked it up at Value Village which is like a nice Salvation Army), a white shirt underneat his stone washed blue jeans. He said this morning he was nervous. Kept telling him he'll do fine. So proud of him, the only second grader there! For the 4th and 5th graders they were required to do a science project, for the grades below that it was optional.

Today I had a GNC Lean shake and I'm already hungry. Snack soon. I've lost another lb. (156) and I'd love to see that number DROP a bit more.
This weekend was super busy. Made a big batch of meatballs which then went into the freezer, made two batches of herb butter (lemon dill and tomato basil), made kale chips and then for dinner a roast chicken with a golden nugget squash and mashed potatoes with homemade gravy. Yum yum. DH has to make broth out of the carcass today.

Wow, just connected my bodymedia armband to my phone. I burnt 2720 calories yesterday! Whew!
I noticed yesterday that doing plain situps is getting super easy. Gonna have to push that up some. Squats though are still tough and are still making me sore.
Well I have just noticed I'm kind of rambling so I'm going to call it quits here today. Have writing to do on my blog today.

Munch: Okay! Now you've cleared up the retirement pay mystery! Had me all confused on that one. At least you know the house payment is paid each month. Y'all won't end up in the cold! As far as the car payment? Check to see if you can make an interest payment one or two months? It would be like a $36.00 payment. They'll stick the payment to the end of your payments. Use it if you can when you're in a crunch! Insulate everything in y'all's home. Around any wiring places coming into your home. Outlets, phone/cable wires and caulk around your windows. Throw a rolled up blanket across the bottom of the doors to also keep out cold air.

LOL People pleasing! Hmmmmm If there's an argument going on between me and someone here? I'm not going to argue with them. I usually say the dreaded "whatever" and leave them to argue with themselves. I let it blow over! Then I try to approach them again. I use a lot of scenarios too in order to make things understood. Jethro though is extremely smart. So trying to get thru to HIM on simple things? Can be tasking. He needs a graph and a diagram to figure things out. LOL I'm the opposite.

Are you taking fiber tablets to help with your weight loss? They do wonders for helping things move on thru the body. Just a suggestion!

I'm glad you three are doing the exercises together. It makes it more fun and less tasking. DS will also have these times together to have as good memory's years down the road. It might be something him and his family do together when he reaches this point.

Did you know you can go online to print coupons? There are multiple places to go to! Our commissary is almost an hour and a half away from us. So it's not a savings to us to make the trip there. We have a walmart one mile to the right of us and another walmart two miles to the left of us. They are both large stores with everything you'd need.

We as families - husband and wife! Fall into the tracks of depending on each other in different ways. It can almost make one of us be more insecure in things. Makes the other stronger. Jethro has his strong areas and I have mine. We are a well oiled machine together. Especially on Jethro's side! LOL He keeps everything oiled, greased and changed often! But it sure saves us on having to make major repairs later down the road. Even our vacuum cleaners are taken outside to the air hoses and blown out monthly. Rollers are cleaned too. It's amazing how dirt can cause so much damage to things.

As for your coworker? I wouldn't worry about her. She'll either get herself straightened out or pay for it later on. You are doing what you are supposed to do correctly!

Man! The drought in California is hitting us all! As much milk as I drink? I might need to invest in a cow! I have two acres here she could graze on. But I'm not one to drink fresh milk either. Yuck! And she'd have to keep producing young ones in order to produce milk. Hmmmmmm I think I'll continue buying from the store. I actually lived on a diary farm in WI for awhile. Talk about a nasty stinky job! And they have to be milked twice a day. No matter what the weather is outside. Hard laboring work. Gave me a whole new respect for farmers.

And then I saw on The Doctor's Show today? You can sell your own poop for $250.00 to be put into other ppl to help get them regulated! Well who would have thunk it? They now have poop banks! Too funny!

Muah hahaha...TOD, I am soooo a pro on online coupon printing. I do this about 3 to 5 times a week. I do not only online coupon printing but putting them on my savings cards for the commissary, fred meyers and safeway. I've also found a glitch that allows us to get double coupons. First I print out the coupon, present it, then give them my card. That allows me to get double off. Sometimes up to $2 to $3 bucks.
Didn't know that about the car bit! Good news though? I found out today that I prepaid on our insurance so next payment due is in April. Whew! One less thing to pay. Plus I'm willing to bet our daycare would work with us a bit.
Well guys, dh has his job interview Wednesday. We just went through a sampling of "test" questions like "where do you see yourself in 5 yrs" or "Why do you want to work for this company?"
He did somewhat okay, he has a tendency to always highlight the bad things he does, never the good so its training him non stop to STOP THAT! sigh. My big Eeyore.
Found out DS did really well in his science fair today. The judge and some of the
teachers applauded him after he presented his project. Proud Mama. I hope he wins something just for being the only second grader to do this.

Busy night tonight. Between dh's interview questions, I had to test read an article I'm writing for a website about making bread.(sourdough) I gotta try and submit it tomorrow. Doesn't mean much $$$ but it does draw people to other articles I write which then DOES make me money.
Then of course, making my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow, making ds's lunch for tomorrow. DH made dinner tonight, spaghetti, leftover roast chicken and ciabatta rolls. Hhmm, I gotta get good at making those. I like those.
Then cleaning up after dinner, packing stuff up, starting a new pot of tea tomorrow for work. I like to walk in with a hot travel mug of tea.
Playing with the cat. She likes to play a game that I like to call "I got you!" where we play hide and go seek with each other. Each time I yell "I gotcha!" she just about jumps into the air and either runs and hides or chases me. LOL What a hoot.
Shoot, gotta run. Time for sit ups and planks and squats!
Still here, still sober!!!

Think I should try some sit up and squats....I do planks from yoga. Lately I notice when I get down on the floor, it's harder to get back up....guess I'm getting older!! I've been making myself get out for afternoon walks this week. I often walk with Mr. P, but have enjoyed walking by myself and listening to music or NPR ....helps clear my head.

I'm getting my hair done tomorrow afternoon. I get cut, color and high lights every five weeks and it is expensive, but I have to say she does an excellent job. Speaking of appearance , I had some laser therapy done on some broken capillaries around my nose last week. I've been self conscious of them for years, but finally decided to do something about it. Interesting thing was they told me there was several things I could do to have a better result, and not drinking alcohol was one of them....very cool...and of course, no problemo these days Yes.....still here and still sober

P.S. Big prayers for DH's interview tomorrow.

You two need to get a stationary bike to ride. I got mine for $5.00 at a yard sale. You can watch TV, listen to music or whatever all in the comfort of your home when it's nasty outside. And still get a good workout!

I use a color off walmart's shelf. My hairdresser uses the highlights she has. So with me bringing my own stuff? She charges me $60.00 and I give her a $20.00 tip. I have very long hair and it takes awhile to get it all done.

Sending good vibes DH's direction for his interview tomorrow!

LOL That's what DH said to the HR rep that called him yesterday TOD. I wish we had room for something like that TOD, we sold our elliptical simply because we knew we would never have room anymore in this house.
Guys, I still can't believe it that DS got 2nd place! SECOND PLACE! I mean there were at least 60 kids in this. DS was the only second grader, all the rest were 4th and 5th graders. DS told me last night there were some 6th and 7th graders but I'm not certain about that.
It was mandatory for the 4th & 5th graders so everyone had to do something.
I told DH this morning that while we did help with the putting together of things, printing things out for DS, I did word art for him. He had to explain/present his science project.
JUST
Pretty proud of him.

WAY to GO DS!!!! I know you are beaming on the job today! And bragging up a storm about your little man! Glad to read the happiness in your words! What was his project about or have you already said and I missed it somehow? Getting older by the day and not liking how little things slip past me. Turning 54 this Friday and getting hair done today so I DON'T look it! But Hey! When I turn 56? I'll actually be turning 14 too. So it's all GOOD! Being a Leap Year Baby does have it's benefits! LOL It also comes in handy when places are giving Free meals to ppl on their Birthdays! When there's not a Leap Year - year? I can go out to eat Free two days in a row or two different places in one day! Or even four times in two days time. Thanks Mom for having me on a wonderful day!

Can DH go online and do some investigating on the site he's applying too on Friday? Maybe get enough knowledge under his belt he can actually feel like he knows more about the place. Something to think about! That is if he hasn't already done it! LOL

I should have known you were already printing off coupons! LOL I put a link on My Animal Planet Thread y'all might want to checkout! It's got some really good info on it for several things. Really nice link to go thru.

At home, with a headache. Actually had one all day. Remind me again never to take Nyquil. I think it gave me a headache.
Well, I have now added a few more "items" to my energy saving arsenal. A surge protector that turns off everything when the main component is turned off (good for the entertainment center), two switch like plugs that you then plug in something like a phone, kindle, or electric toothbrush (already had two for the electric toothbrushes, these two new ones are for our kindles), and also one timer for DH's truck. We have to plug it in when it gets below -20 but we don't want to keep it plugged in. That adds about $30 a month.
I have discovered our fridge is a big offender. Can't afford to fix that right now though.
TOD, yeah DH has done tons of research about the company. That way he can answer the questions sounding like he knows what he is talking about.
Well off to bed I go.

Sorry about your headache Munch! I can usually take my Advil and drink a large glass of water and it will deminish it greatly. Or even get rid of it! That is when it's not a BP headache issue or lack of food!

I stay far away from Nyquil! It makes my restless legs syndrome go into overdrive! ARGH! Did you take it for health problems or to help you sleep?

Thumbs up to DH for getting ahead of the learning curve on the job he's applying for!

There are some really small stationary bikes out there! So don't give up on the thought of one. I also have a twister board that helps with the tummy area and lower back area. It used to be mom's and is an old one! There's a small crack in the board right now. So I'm not using it until Jethro gets it fixed. When it's in working condition? It's wonderful for helping to get rid of those problem areas.

So much for Spring appearing! It's 20 degrees and we have snow expected for this weekend. Heat bulbs are all turned back on and the heater has been turned up in the house. Thank God for the new central air system too. It has saved us big time on our electric bill.

Usually excedrin does the trick but in this case nothing worked and on top of that I had a horrible stomach ache. Turns out my coworker also had some of the same symptoms so I'm wondering if it is some sort of flu.
Feeling a tad bit better today but coworker is out. No worries though because I have one other coworker here with me today.
Getting the job done and what not. Even brought my laptop in to work on a couple projects that can be done via my laptop. Gotta burn some CDs.
That and contact our cable company. Gotta see if we can reduce bills a bit.
I'm also trying to see if my old Kindle works, going to give that to my son if it does. If it doesn't maybe contact Amazon.
So lots of work to be done, little time to do it in.
Ta ta!
And of course..............Still here, still sober!

Wow, 2 nd place against all those older kids.....amazing....you should be proud!!!!!

I never liked Nyquil. Took it once in my twenties, had weird dreams and woke up in a tangled pile of sweaty sheets....first and only time I ever took it.

Uh oh....bought my bag of jelly beans today......

Good luck on the interview tomorrow....may it not be rescheduled

Friday morning and no call last night to reschedule. That's good news in my book. Hopefully by the end of the day we'll have somewhat of a conclusion.
At work this morning, its the three of us here. Should be somewhat uneventful today. Especially with all three of us here.
Have a few things to accomplish. Call up the cable company, call up Amazon, see if I can get my old Kindle to hold a charge. I want to give it to DS. I warned him its really only good for books, no games but he was excited so I want to see if I can get it to work.
Otherwise I might trade it in for a low end Kindle, one of the small ones meant just for reading. His Vtech reader is just too much beneath his reading ability. Amazingly the teacher has advised us he reads at an above grade reading level. His school in the lower 48 said he was actually reading UNDER his grade level. Weird huh?
He has tons of other books in his room but he's still suffering under the idea that "those are too big for me, my teacher in MD said so" bit. SMH.
What a difference in teachers. This one tells ds over and over he can do whatever it is he sets his mind to. His teachers in MD (especially in 1st grade) said he could barely do anything.

Well gotta get some stuff done. Have to look up some recipes for bread this weekend, print them out. Going to try out something new too and hopefully write about it.

Still here, still sober.
