Lazy days
Some days I don't always feel motivated. Just kinda lazy. Today is one of them.
You ever have those kind of days?
But that is ok because I am sober . I am kinda sleepy today and kicking back.
We decided to leave for Orlando tomorrow.
But I can tell you this, I did not wake up craving a drink or a drug and that is a
miracle for any alcoholic and addict.
Something we should all be grateful for.
I actually feel really guilty when I am not doing something useful or helpful .
But it is not the hopeless kind of guilt I lugged around when I was using.
Knowing no matter how hard I tried to change and not use I could not do it on my own.
And I just kept racking up more guilt and more to my horrendnous story.
Today it's ok to be a slouch once in awhile . I didn't hurt anyone today.
Considering I could undoubtedly be sitting in a psych ward, detox center or jail cell,
All of which I have frequented many times .
Well, the day actually just got better with that thought lol .
I know tomorrow I will be back in full gear and actually have the ability unlike a yr ago,
to be of service to others, take care of my responsibilities and do what I need to do .
Something I would be incapable of doing if I was still using.
However I do need to do a few simple things daily to stay spiritually fit.
I made contact with God today, read a little recovery literature, spoke to another alkie .
Did a little service work .
Did a spot check inventory to check my thinking to make sure I am free of anger, resentment,
self pity and to high expectations. Things that could lead me to a drink or drug.
I feel confident that I will not drink or drug today .
The more effort I put forth into my recovery, the better days I have and the more joy
and peace I feel .
It's a reap what you sow kinda deal.
I didn't do a whole lot of sowing today. But I am commited to staying clean and sober for
this 24 hours no matter what!
Are you in?
