Hi, you guys! I actually made it all the way to midnight last night! I awoke to the smell of frying bacon! My son-in-law the breakfast guru was already on the job! When I get home later this afternoon, though, the diet starts!
I'm seriously thinking of giving up caffeine, too. I replaced one addiction with another.

Good job Gilmer! I fell asleep about 11:00. Nice to just drift off rather than pass out! The diet starts for me today too. I gained about 30 pounds during my last "off the wagon". New year, new attitude. Thinking about giving up the smokes this year.
Hi class,
Had a great day. Rode 50 miles on a group bike ride today called the New Year's Hangover ride. I was happy to learn that only one person had an actual hangover. I got to see a famous basketball player at our coffee stop which was cool. I also made friends with a couple girls that were on the ride. One wants me to join her on an all female ride so I think I'll try to go now that I've met one of them. Great start to the new year
My AV has been fairly quiet lately so I hope that keeps up too. Hope everybody's doing good.

That's great, Siesta. Hope you can forge some cool new sober friendships.
I'll be getting back to my "normal" social life tonight. Because of the crazy entertaining stress I had during the fall, I had totally withdrawn from everybody except my family (and SR). I guess I can be social tonight

Day 52 begins. Had a great New Years Day. Wife and I drove down the valley to our rec. property to check on the RVs etc. We snowshoed, built a fire, had a picnic lunch in the snow around the fire. Sun was shining. Life is good. Legs killed me on the drive home. Guess I need to excercise more often. She talked me into taking a beginners yoga class this month. Why not. Can't hurt too much. Not as much as a dry heaving headache.
Begining this year with a great new lease on life, new attitude towards my business, spend more time with my family doing healthy things. Reconnect with some life long friends, lose the drinking buddies, projects around the house.
A productive year ahead.
Wishing all my SR friends nothing but strength, perserverance and health for 2014.

Hey class,
Hope you all had a great new year. New years day was my day 60 which is pretty cool! I had a glass or two of non alcohol wine, enjoyed it too, all of the taste with none of the shame. It didn't make me crave the buzz, its the taste i miss.
I am filled with positivity for what the year ahead holds!!

Hi Gilmer! Thanks to all Novemberites for your ongoing messages, which I have been following, and which do much to keep me on track.
My update? I've been spending time at the gym (big surprise!) and taking care of some major car repairs that will feel good to get done. Even though question marks remain about my direction in 2014, I feel guardedly confident that my interest in sports training is a structure upon which I can rely for the immediate future.
It is true that my job and social life need a 2014 facelift--perhaps even a face transplant. But it is also true that I am feeling a strong connection to sports training that seems health producing on levels even beyond the physical. In time, I am hoping that other aspects of my life can take on a similarly positive hue. We shall see.
Thanks much, Gilmer, for inquiring!
