Today I got out of bed at 7:30am for no other reason than I felt rested and ready to get up. When I was drinking, I would typically get up between 10:30am and 1pm. If I had work I would drag myself up and walk around feeling partially dead for the rest of the day. Now I wake up naturally in the morning, and my head isn't pounding, my eyes aren't burning, and my mouth doesn't feel like a small animal just died in it. Instead I feel calm, hopeful, and strong.

I woke up this morning at 5am (which is an hour before my alarm goes off for work) my head did not hurt and I felt great. I got a shower got dressed did some cleaning up around the house and got to work 15 minutes early! Oh it's the little things huh?!?! Happy Friday everyone!
(Thanks for the new thread Dee.)
I told my boss I was unhappy the way things were going at work and that I wanted to talk about options for changes. Before I would've said nothing, decided the work stress was a reason to drink, come home and drank straight vodka before I even let the dog out in the yard.

I'm singing in a choir at Easter and learning a part. I'd never have bothered with that when i was drinking. It's really a joy to sing onstage--it helps me really get into the worship being in a choir. You really sing your heart out. It's different than being in the audience. Life has definitely become fuller since I've stopped drinking.
At a family gathering today, I helped with the Easter Egg.hunt with the little ones. Taught some games to the four year old. Shot baskets with the 16 year old. Showed up on time. Got compliments on my hair and spring clothes.
This compared with when drinking, when I would sit in a corner, or hide in a bedroom, or not go, or be late, wear all dark colors or black, go in the bathroom and cry, text sarcastic things to friends. I would've never seen the love.

I spent the day with my daughter, just enjoying the sunshine and her company. And the thing that's different about that is what I didn't do: I didn't think about the night before, and I didn't think about the night ahead. No regrets tugging me back, no obsessions pulling me forward, finally free to just appreciate ordinary moments.
