I hate not having free will
I'm such a wee girl,

The wrong muscles relaxed that time!

The spot where vodka became so dear.

Can't hide with sobriety.

I hid in a bottle.
Myself I did coddle.
Excuses I made
so I could evade
This feeling that I am so odd~ill.

I believe we all feel alone,
As islands all sea and stone
We think booze can protect us
But can chose to connect us,
To others who live in this zone

AV says no one understands
So we sit alone, time on our hands
Shutting out those who care
For the drink we can't share
And our solitude continuously expands

Oh yes we all look the same
Two arm two legs a nice name
But we differ inside
Self loathing not pride
To other folk drinking's a game

To us it is our very best friend
We don't drink to follow a trend
We drink when we cry
When low down or high,
There never would seem any end

Now I know that the poison has lied
It was killing me slowly inside
In my head in my heart
It tore me apart
And down sobriety s road I must stride

I can never again be with that friend
Our relationship now at an end
But I do not live with grief,
Instead, feel relief,
My heart is beginning to mend

I know that I've been here before,
At the last 4 weeks I walked out the door
I felt super able to drink
Was AV chittering I think!
But this time I know what's in store.

Yes Toots it is good you recall.
therefore you will not drop the ball!
If we recall the worst
and prepare for our thirst
We won't heed that AV's call.

A key in our minds we must keep
of: "Just why all that drink made us weep"!
Keep a list of the horror
And look in the mirror
Tell AV: NO way, What the *bleep* !!

There is one other list to keep close:
of: "How quitting has helped us the most!"
Use the carrot or stick
Use whatever works quick
Oh and also remember to post!

And count blessings come day and come night.
Post limericks since you like to write.
When you have a first thought
Stop and ask yourself: "HALT!"
These tricks keep sobriety in sight.
