I know what ya mean, Aussie. I had a few "man...do I need a mind eraser night" moments this week, but was very glad the next day I hadn't imbibed. A few of them were even hand-trembling, mind-shaking moments. I thought for sure I'd cave on the smokes, but I didn't even do that. Perhaps I'm learning something...almost a month off the smokes, and several weeks off the nic gum.

Sorry there was no match for your friends child, Frances, but wow on finding matches for 3 others. I have assumed that I can't donate marrow, as I'm banned from giving blood. I had suspicious tests in the 80s that caused them to blacklist my blood. Guess I've got bad blood...I've asked a couple times since, to no avail. So...I've volunteered to run the drives a couple times over the last several years. Now, I get to watch others turn gray with the sweats.

I'm up for a challenge in any realm of fitness/weight loss that one wants to set as a goal. Maybe PBC can moderate, since she's already in the zone.

BTW, PBC...thanks for that list of side effects; I hadn't heard of the hair, lesion and gall bladder effects. And, I'm glad you didn't mention that one where I'd need to see a doctor if it lasted for more than 4 hours....Man, can you imagine that? I'd go to the hospital if it lasted more than 15 minutes! LOL!

Good morning, Marchers! I woke up early and I'm all energized for a fabulous day! I may do the grocery shopping before church, then worship, then our family is going for lunch at a church friend's house with a few other people, and later on we'll hit the gym. I'm working on my meeting for the week right now.

Yay, Aussie! You've been set free!!!

How've you been lately, Dee? Any falls or other issues?

Mirage, fainting is no fun. I did once, and that icky-shakey-cold-sweaty-discombobulated feeling afterward is AWFUL.

Frances, there is a 25K here on May 12 that Jim is doing ... AND that's also the day of the biggest of the Tulip Time parades. Just sayin'.

Hugs all around!

Lofty, someday when we meet face to face I'll share my questions on the "4 hour" thing ... I probably shouldn't post them here.

So what are you doing that's healthy today?

I'm in the weight zone, yes. I eat amazingly healthy, track everything, get all my Good Health Guidelines (WW suggests how many servings of each type of nutritious food we need daily), all that. But the exercise part eludes me, or at least it did before today. I am quite active in my everyday life, but I could definitely benefit from building more muscle and increasing my cardiovascular stamina. I. can't. wait. to. go. to. the. gym. today. (do you sense the sarcasm? Ha!)

Morning!
It's a beautiful day!

SO glad your way is clear Aussie and I'm with Lofty. What helps hold me safe is thinking of how I will feel in the morning. Glad you can share your hard-moments so we can support you. It certainly was not an average situation and you rose to the challenge!

Lofty, I'm so glad you can help out with blood drives so significantly. Honestly, laying flat on a bed is the easy part. All the organizing is the really important work to make it happen.

PBC, I challenge you to work out today in a way that's fun and that you enjoy it. End the workout feeling like you could and want to do a little more, and then QUIT ON SUCCESS. I hope you feel like you accomplished a baby step and will feel proud of it. I believe that a key to regular exercise is making it fun, doable, manageable, and rewarding. Do it like you want to feel for the rest of your life. If it's too hard, of course it doesn't stick. Right? WW teaches us to eat the way we can eat for the rest of our lives. Off my soapbox!

February 2 is Groundhog Day in the US. In the ancient celtic calendar, it's Imbolc. The half-way point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. I love thinking about how our planet works and how the sun shines to energize all living things. It's a Wonder.

Of course for Dee & Aussie, it's the other-way-round. Contemplating that truth is another Wonder. I love having friends who live so far away yet are so close.

Ok...started reading Men's Health: The ABS3 Diet. I'm gonna use it for the workout advice, and use the rest of my dietary knowledge for the eating part, but still stick by the ABS3 parameters.

Breakfast? Regular oatmeal and a grapefruit. We got a bag of those really red ones, even though it wasn't labeled that way. Those are the only ones I like, so I'll get another bag before they're gone. It seems the season for those only lasts weeks.

Today is a physical work day. I just made my list of open loops for the basement. Now to prioritize into do, defer, delegate. Haven't decided on my project, but there's one there for me. I don't think I'll paint upstairs today after all. The guy I was originally gonna hire came by, and we're gonna knock out the two story walls together, which is most of what's left.

Oh, and I'll probably organize the taxes today, to do later in the week. Still a coupla docs out there.

If you can't ask your questions, PBC, you got the joke. Sorry; I'm a dirty old man. I think its the ADs.

Frances, I am in wonder about our world as well. What a perfect creation. If only us humans could stop messing it up.

Another sunny day. Can probably skip the lightcycle.

Mirage...I think I know that Kermit Vomit color. But if the kids like it, go with it. They're only young once. I know you are already a cool mom, but can you imagine what they'll think if they win this one? You can just keep the door closed, right?

Wife found a cigar in oldest son's pocket yesterday doing laundry. I questioned him. It was funny watching him concoct his lies, all of which I called him on. He says a friend of a friend gave it to him, and since it was unwrapped, I'm apt to believe him. Plus, there have only been two occasions where I've smelled what could be smoke in the house, and never on a person directly. I told him not to be as stupid as his dad.

Good day, all. Wow, it's already late!

Weight loss....Jeans and work pants are fitting better......speedo still cant breath with it on. I have decided to go a different route this year. Normally I lose about 35 pounds every January Feb and until mid march.....working out and eating about 1200 calories a day...I know not a good idea and it always comes right back as PBC referred on the previous page. I am Still taking in around 2000 calories a day and losing weight. I want this to last. It is not like I am dieting this year.....It is more like I am making wiser choices when it comes to food. My working out routine is sporadic at best. MY killer was always always the beer or wine. I would start adding those back within the first couple of weeks. Go figure. This will be the year that I will get back down to my fighting weight and STAY THERE! If I can quit drinking....I can do anything.

that icky-shakey-cold-sweaty-discombobulated feeling afterward is AWFUL
Hmmmmmm that reminds me of something.A place I use to visit in another life.

Ya know frances on our cold winters......I reallly dislike that little groundhog when he comes out and tells me that there will be six more weeks of winter!

As for the 4 hours lofty....I have compiled a list. Well I wont share that but, I have seen what they do in the ER when this issue happens.....It aint pretty. disclaimer-it wasnt me in the ER. Thank God all the running gear is still operational.......shouldnt I be in church right now.

I am an real oatmeal and peanut butterman myself lofty. I eat that everyday for breakfast at work.

I am rambling now so I will say happy sunday and God bless us all.

I love oatmeal! Here's a delicious, healthy, and super-filling recipe:
Oatmeal Custard
1/3 cup dry quick oats
1/3 cup water
1 egg
Splenda
salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Mix together well, then nuke for 1 minute. Stir in a cup of frozen blueberries, then nuke for another minute. Yum! And the added protein of the egg keeps you filled up for a LONG time. (of all the macronutrients, protein takes the longest to digest (so you stay filled up), and burns the most calories in the digestion process (aka conversion cost).)

So, my plans for the day changed. I went to the grocery store, and came out to a complete white-out. I almost went into a ditch on the way home, so we decided to skip church and the luncheon. Jim needed to go to GR, and his car is pretty bad on snow and ice (it's rear-wheel drive), so I asked him to take my Trailblazer. There's about 8 inches since around 6am. I'm stuck at home, but it's been kinda nice snuggling with my 15 yo on the sofa again and watching TLC. Maybe I'll get started on that painting today, too.

Frances, I will take that challenge!

I like that recipe already, so I printed it. I'll try it tomorrow.

Sorry about the Sunday morning Viagra reference. I'll try to raise the bar on the class factor.

Got rid of about 4 boxes of "old stuff" mostly paper stuff. Recycling pick up is not gonna like me cause it's all really heavy. I have another hour, and then on to other stuff.

Great workout this morning and then breakfast at the diner with two friends.

My goals for the rest of the day are to get the house vacuumed and dusted. Should be 2 hours if I start......NOW!

Lofty, if you heard what my question was, you wouldn't worry at all about the reference.

I know, right? Since when do we have to class up the joint??

Well the painting project is now a toilet project. Nothing is ever as easy as it should be. Took the tank off so we could paint behind the toilet and the bolts inside were all corroded so we got new ones but it's not working cuz the innards are so rusty and corroded (well water). May need to replace all the insides or the whole toilet...not sure. Our neighbor/handyman is gonna come by tomorrow and take a look at it. Dammit.

That's a lotta snow, pbc. We're getting it now, too. We're not supposed to get much but it's been coming down for awhile now. Stay inside!

I've always shied away from oatmeal cuz it seems so carby.

Glad you're all having a good day! Nice to hear from you on a Sunday, Dave! YAY!

Ugh Mirage, I hate it when the defined project goes KA BOOM and it's a big messy expensive project instead. Hope it's a relatively easy fix.

NICE GOING LOFTY! Sounds like a productive day for the home and family.

House Cleaning: Took me 3 hours but DONE! Going food shopping now.

LOL Dave on the shakey weak grey discombobulateds. Hm...it's sorta familiar but I can't place it.

YUM PBC. I love oatmeal and adding egg & PB is genius. I'll add some cinnamon to mine too.

Well, Frances, I jogged a mile and rode a bike for 15 minutes. I felt pretty good afterward (well, when I could breathe again anyway).

Goodnight, friends.

Morning everybody--

Let's hold hands and step forward into a wonderful week.

Off to the gym to row with a friend. Just a light workout to work out the kinks from yesterday.

Then work!

Ahhh...Monday morning. The start of a new work week. Each week, I'm raising the bar on productivity. This week will be almost entirely customer focused. I'm starting a new cycle of sales. Not sure if you folks work this way or not, but I like to concentrate on one part of the sales cycle at a time, to the extent possible. Mass marketing, mass prospecting, mass initial meetings, mass analysis, mass closes. It's not always possible, but it helps if I have a single mindset for a week or so at a time, and then make it pour down at the end. It makes for a lot of feast and famine income periods, but that's okay; in fact, in my eyes its better for my family.

Got my open loops on paper in the basement, and started working on a big'n. If I can get the shop organized, then I'm prepared for the next and the next and the next. My problem is frequently that I have too much to do, get overwhelmed, and so I do nothing. Not anymore... In fact, yesterday, in the basement, I got to a brain drain point, which is exactly the point where I'd pop open a beer (didn't matter what time it was) and "change gears", believing it would help me get past the stymied point. It did...right into the recliner, with remote in hand. Not yesterday. I just left it where it was, and moved my day to a different mode. Getting Things Done.

Way to go, PBC! I'm impressed that you fought the elements and worked out. That's great. I fixed the lightcycle yesterday, and my son worked out on it (sans light). My initial impetus for the basement work yesterday was to get the weight room cleaned up and organized, but I then determined its a bit down the list. My son and wife and I each read the first pages of the ABS3 plan, surprisingly, as I had not asked them to, and wife went to store and got a bunch of fruit and power foods.

Mirage...sorry about the toilet fiasco. You'd think they'd put stainless steel screws and rubber washers in there, wouldn't ya? That toilet really sucks sh*t! Oh wait, maybe it doesn't do that anymore (How's that for not classing it up?) We passed on the painting yesterday.

While purging the papers, I came across some of the recovery books I'd purchased over the years. I opened one that i particularly liked, "Changing for Good" by Prochaska, PhD, and opened it right to the chapter on "Maintenance". There was a whole lot of truth in that chapter. Wish I could get it to you all. It acknowledged that taking the action of change is hard, but eventually, keeping up the change through maintenance and changing your habits permanently can be just as hard. It breaks it down into a very logical process, with distinct parts and threats. I enjoyed reading it. Also found AA's Living Sober, which I perused. I now have two "new" reads on my night stand.

Went to AA last night, and, for a minute, thought I was having a heart attack. My heart wouldn't stop racing, my face felt flush, my ears were burning, and I got real tired all-of-a-sudden. I'm embarrassed to say what I think the problem really was. I was leaning on the table, and had put jeans on that fit me fine a month ago. I think I was interrupting my blood flow at the belt line. When I sat back, it all went away. Man, do I need to lose weight! Specifically, stomach weight. I'm now officially motivated!

Have a great week, Marchers!
