I think I may have finally hit my dad where it hurts. After ignoring him all week, he emailed me and asked me if I was ok. I said I wasn't, but I was going to start going to AA and hopefully was on my way back to good. I told him this **** was no joke anymore and it hurt me that he was defending himself after what happened at the hockey rink.

He mentioned that the only thing that kept him sober for those 4 years was going to meetings regularly. I'm hoping this is the start of an honest communication with him and that we can work through this together.

Stupid question, but how long do meetings usually last? If I go on Saturday am, I have to coordinate it with grocery shopping and hockey.

Scoob:... Hi... in scotland a meeting sually lasts an hour and a half... with a 10min smoke errrr i mean refreshment break in the middle....

Stone: I def think its a seagull... thats how they look up here anyway when they are babies... and sometimes they are bigger than the parents... great pic's though... especially liked the motion in the last one....

Take care all... i am saying many prayers today... else i might get done for actual bodily harm at work....

I would need a smoke break more than a refreshment break

Ok that helps.

I will be sure to report back. The one tonight is at a church, tomorrow it's at a community centre. Is there a difference?

My dad and I are going to see Paranormal Activity together on Sunday. woohoo!

This is what he sent me in his email today:

I have to go to meetings more than 2 a month, I still see the councilor once a month but that is not enough, when I don't go, I drink. No excuses.
Lost a battle but not the war.

I love my dad.

Awww, that's nice Marlee. You know, this may be the silver lining to the cloud. Supporting each other in this journey will def bring you closer. Alkies understand alkies, like no one else.

About the meetings...in my area they can be 45 mins, 1 hour,1 1/2 hour. Depends on the meeting and no, the location makes no difference. It depends on where the rent is the cheapest, is my guess.

I'm home peeps, I tried to get on and got caught,

so I figured i'd better wait till I got home. I worry

if my bosses eyes are good and he seen the tab with

sober recovery. Oh well nothing I can do about it right now.

I know I need to catch up on the posts, so I'll be back.

marlee this may seem like a stupid question but why are you trying to hurt your dad??

also I mean this in the kindest way but your getting sober for yourself not your dad. I hope you can get sober regardless to what your dad does.

meetings in my area last usually from one hour to an hour and a half. no smoking breaks in ireland.

The meetings here are also 1 hour, never more than that, though sometimes I wish they were. Tonight I have to take over the 5:30 commitment for my sponsor, she is going to a Grateful Dead concert, ugh, I am not a fan.

Need a topic, come on peeps, some ideas please
