Night night folks... hope you enjoy this and no offense meant:

"An Atheist in the woods"

An atheist was walking through the woods.

"What majestic trees!"
"What powerful rivers!"
"What beautiful animals!"
He said to himself.

As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling
in the bushes behind him. He turned to look.

a 7-foot grizzly bear charging towards him.

The man ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked
over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing in on
him.. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was
even closer. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled
over to pick himself up but saw that the bear was right on
top of him, reaching for him with his left and raising his
right paw to strike him.

At that instant the Atheist cried out, "Oh my God!".

Time Stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.

As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out
of the sky. "You deny my existence for all these years,
teach others I don't exist, and even credit creation to a
cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of
this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?"

The atheist looked directly into the light and said, "It
would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat
me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the
BEAR a Christian?"

"Very Well", said the voice.

The light went out.. The sounds of the forest resumed.
And the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws
together, bowed his head & spoke:

"Lord bless this food, which I am about to receive from thy
bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen."

Please ask questions about why it has no relevence. I wish the man had explained himself better to you, then you would understand and would not feel sore.

i can understand about the relevence nel, and his POV, but what upset me was how he handled it. he knows i am a newcomer, i had shared that very night that i am struggling, and the visciousness may well not have been directed at me, but boy it felt that way....

anyway i'll get over it, i think it was because i was starting to feel comfortable going to the meetings, felt like i did belong, now i'm not so sure.

that I've experienced something similar, in early sobriety, and I hung on to that resentment for way too long! Don't make the same mistakes that I have!
thanks ro...

my sweet nephew is deploying to iraq next week. i've known it was coming, but now that the departure date is finalized, i feel kind of sick to my stomach about it, and the tears are coming. please add him and all the soldiers to your prayers ..
news like this puts it in perspective though....

i will add them to my prayers K...

take care all.. have a good day...

Thanks RoRo ... hope you feel better soon too .

Letting go of resentments is a big part of learning to live a happy & healthy. In recovery or not. This thread is becoming very helpful to me in this area. Especially now that the husband is back to what usually throws me into grief mode. I've been strong these past few months but I think the tooth thing has lowered my resistance and I'm starting to fall back to my unhealthy way of coping. I need to re group and remind myself who I am. That I'm not what he says I am. Although... he is what I think he is... which is a disco stick!

Something ironic happened today in my morning class (It's a power class). Someone left my class! She said it was too hard .

Going to lay down and read some Yogananda. I picked up a book called How to Be Happy All The time. I think I'll go start reading that now.

DEXTER ROCKED LAST NIGHT BTW!!!

Good night peeps!

I'm glad you are finding this thread helpful, Gyps. It helps me quite a lot, too. I just love everyone here, so much.

Thanks for not posting any Dexter spoilers - I was gonna watch it tonight but I find it a bit graphic to watch before bed. So - later on this week when I find the time.

Trying to figure out what a disco stick is - I know the lady gaga reference .. just trying to get the literal translation over here.

Hi peeps, I'm home and very tired. Went to my step meeting, Step 2, went to diner with sponsor, grandsponsor & 2 friends then speaker commitment. I led and 2 of them spoke. There was an 86 year old man there with 36 years sobriety, WOW. Glad I'm home, just wanted to check in before bed.

IO, prayers for your sponsor and your special sister.

Louis, liked the joke

i think it was because i was starting to feel comfortable going to the meetings, felt like i did belong, now i'm not so sure.
Kate, don't start feeling like that, that's negative thinking, I did and went back out because I felt I didn't belong, it was all about me. You do belong.

Ro, hope you are feeling a bit better, saved my last hug for you

Oh I forgot to share this, tonight I couldn't find my LIS Angel list when we went on committment, and I was thinking about it, just then they asked the treasurer for her report and I hear, My name is Bea and I'm an alcoholic, lol, how great is that. I just smiled to myself and thanked each of you for being with me. No coincidences, huh.

okay night for real now. You peeps are more a part of my life than I think you know. :ghug2 :ghug2
