Today I'm thankful for....

- being alcohol free for 3 months

- my SR friends who understand and honor the significance of every day of sobriety, not just the anniversaries - but celebrate the anniversaries with me, too, which I love.

- eating healthy for 4 days, mind and body.

- my family

- going to bed early to relax after a long, draining day at work; finding solace and blankets and covers instead of alcohol.

- black Dunkin dark roast iced coffee

Thanks so much Opi, SoberLeigh, and DG.

I am thankful for...

- my family

- my sobriety for giving me the opportunity and interest in deepening my relationships with my sons. Today we are letting the 9 1/2 year old try a day off from his adhd meds to see how he feels because I am understanding that he needs to play a role in his psychological care. I thank sobriety for the patience to live with his symptoms instead of controlling them for MY comfort.

- my malaise and physical discomfort for reminding me that there is more to taking care of my health than not drinking. I need to eat healthfully and exercise, sleep, and limit caffeine. If I behave out of balance, I'll feel out of balance.

- being able to figure out how things work. I was able to figure out how my husband could fix his broken ladder. And I didn't get aggravated at being pulled into his project!

- green smoothies

I am thankful for ...

- my family

- my sobriety for affording me this nice, relaxing, alcohol free Memorial Day Weekend. I'm getting some work done around the house and finding time to relax. No rushing, no plans, and no FOMO.

- ACoA book

- cream of buckwheat pilaf with black coffee brewed at home. Starbucks house blend.

I am thankful for....

- my family

- the 4th step for showing me the patterns of my pain, resentment, mistreatment of others, and fears, that I've been building my foundation with broken bricks, and for offering hope that I can let the broken bricks go.

- being alcohol free

- my 3 month chip

- a tall Americano with no room from Starbucks.

Haha, Leigh. Well I know you're reading. An Americano is a shot of espresso topped with hot water. "No room" is Starbucks talk for no room for milk because I drink it black. It's a little smoother than drip coffee.

Cool lingo; makes sense; you learn something everyday. I love their java chip frappacino (sp? - most likely wrong) and caramel machiatta (sp? - also most likely wrong). If I asked for the frappacino with no room, would they skip the whipped cream and give me more chips or chocolate drizzle? I like the chips. I like the chocolate drizzle.

BTW, I like the broken bricks analogy.

Leigh, I love sweets. When I was waiting for my coffee this afternoon, I was mainlining a jar of chocolate frosting in the car.

- my family

- sobriety for giving me the energy to do fun things, and the patience to enjoy them with my kids

- the 4th step for helping me organize the free floating chaos in my brain, to see my role in my pain

- recovery for teaching me tools to find comfort, not saving, while I process the 4th step
