Grateful the dog became rambunctious at sunrise as it got me outside as all the birds were singing. I counted about seven different songbirds, coming in on cue like the wind and string sections of an orchestrah with the percussion supplied by the woodpecker across the street. It was beautiful. Why do the birds sing when the sun comes up? Because they want everyone to wake up and see it?

Grateful I dreampt of a friend I've been meaning to call. Grateful last nights dream soundtrack was Clapton's "More than Words" which is odd as I am more of a "Cream" Clapton era gal. (As I've said, my dreams have soundtracks...)

Grateful it is Saturday and I am not needed to babysit my grandson, as I was on standby.

I am SO grateful I quit drinking before I completely ruined my life. What a feeling to wake up to a life without that feeling of dread....

Grateful to be boring. I was much too exciting a person before I embraced sobriety.

Oh yes, EQ... I'm also listening to the birds as I type. They all are trying to out sing each other this morning.

I am grateful to have been awakened by a nice phone call from my son this morning. Also grateful to have the other son coming home for a visit this afternoon. Grateful to still be an integral part of my adult children's lives!

I am grateful I didn't go out last night when every fiber of my being was pulling me toward the door.

I am grateful that I can read about others' experience and learn how to dismiss the voice that tells me it's ok to drink.

In the middle of the night, as I was again (sadly) foraging for chocolate, I took a long drink from my bottle of mineral water. In that moment I flashed back to the many middle-of-the-nights I was taking a long drink from a wine bottle. The memory made me smile. I am so grateful for my new normal.

Grateful I feel calm.
Grateful for a good night's sleep.
Grateful for a partner (husband) to share the load with.
Grateful for mild temps, so I can work in my garden.
Grateful for fresh fruit, a much better way to spend money, than on wine.

Grateful I wake up with hopeful feelings. And not feelings of dread, shame and pain.

Grateful for a morning pic of my grandson sent by my daughter. He is trying to feed his breakfast to his Beary bear. It reminds me of her when she was a toddler....

Grateful for growth and redemption.

Grateful that changing all my clocks to the new correct time after the time change now that I am sober only takes a few minutes in the morning instead of weeks and weeks of just not being able to do it.
