I was listening to Marc Maron's WTF podcast interview with Brene Brown last night & he had one of my favorite codependent quotes yet:

"Codependency is malignant empathy."

Why yes, it is! We generally use our empathy in all the wrong ways as codependents.

Never heard it put like that before but makes sense. Had to Google malignant :"spiteful, hostile, malevolent, malicious, malign, evil-intentioned, baleful, full of hate, vicious, nasty, poisonous, venomous, acrimonious, rancorous, splenetic, cruel".
