Quack quack
After AH finished the litre bottle of brandy he says.."lm off to get a KFC. Ive had KFC on my mind all day" no surprise that he came back with another litre bottle of brandy...🤣 they think we're stupid!
I don't think "they" as in people who are drunk/alcoholic, think that much about what the other person's level of intelligence is.
Probably more about his denial than anything else.
Not drinking at you, just drinking!

When I was drinking, I never considered if people were stupid or not, it was all about me telling me (like in your example) I was going to buy KFC.
I would believe it to be true, then I would pick up the alcohol on the way. But still focus that I was going to buy KFC. If you see what I mean.
It is all about fooling myself not others. To drink so self destructively, I needed to be in denial for my own sake. Unfortunately it affected all those around me but it was never about them. It was about facilitating my own drinking. Easing my own fear and guilt.
I hope this helps. He is not doing anything personal to you, he is just doing what we need to do when we drink.
I see this play out in my AH. I recognise it as I did it.

Every time I think I know what someone else is thinking, I can never come up with any evidence to support my theories one way or the other. I have come to the conclusion that a more productive use of my time, is to think about what makes nez tick? What is at the core of my thought processes?
