I don't know about everyone else but I wasn't talking about songs I drank to. These were songs that I absolutely loved to listen somtimes to the point of vomiting.

I don't need drugs or alcohol to enjoy my music.

Gaza Strippers' version of "Yin and Yang the Flowerpot Man" (obscure but oh so good). Tom Petty's "American Girl" does it for me too, Low-Fi Allstars' "Battle Flag," as well as almost anything by Queens of the Stone Age.

Yes, strange tastes

ok, 4 for me:

"Rosalita" by Bruce
"Rock 'n Roll Never Forgets" by Bob Seger
"All the Way from Memphis" by Mott the Hoople
"Jump" by Van Halen

I've seen them all live. I love concerts. The performer I've seen the most is James Taylor, probably somewhere around 30 times. He's just not easy to rock out to LOL!!

Devo and Whip it! Not my all-time favorite song, but every time it comes on I crank up the volume and it gets me in a good mood! Another song I like is Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry.

And Denny receives our prize for naming those one-hit wonders, Cyrkle, as the group who sang "Red Rubber Ball." Behind Door Number 3, today, we have for Denny a free, all-expenses-paid vacation to Pomona. Yes, that place made famous in the song "GTO." And since Denny is so up on sixties one-hit wonders, we will throw in a side trip to Knotts Berry Farm if she can name the group who sang "GTO:" "Gonna wind 'em up, blow 'em out, shut 'em down, GTO."

So Denny, do you have the answer for our audience today???

Yes, it does embraced. You and I were both hatched from dinosaur eggs! I remember when I was a pre-schooler singing "Bye-bye, love, bye-bye sweet caress, hello lonliness, I think I'm-a-gonna cry .. bye-bye my love, good bye."

The thing that cracked my parents up was my pronounced lisp, so when I said "caress" it came out sound like "careth."

Awww, c'mon Denny, you know I'd never mock you! How about Ronnie and the Rondelles? Hmmm??? Sure, we can fly you to Pomona. We have a four-seater 1958 Piper Cub revving up on the runway right now!:bounce

Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you - bring your own oxygen mask and life preserver (if we need to ditch over an irrigation ditch ....)

Prodie shot me a PM saying "come on FD, Red Rubber Ball, you can do better than that. I said, what songs did you boogie to until you dropped?"

Well, allow me to elaborate my prodding little friend (pun intended). Picture this:

Two of my brothers, my sister, and two girls from my neighborhood all hanging out on the side patio of my parents' house. The oldest was my brother; he was probably 11 at the time. That would have made me about 9 years old.

Red Rubber Ball was my brother's first 45. We played the heck out of that song. On this particular summer day, we all decided that it would be fun to play rock band.

So my two brothers got some tennis rackets out of the garage, tied extension cords to them, then placed the ends of the cords into the gas barbecue grill. It served as their "amp." The two tennis rackets served as electric guitars.

My sister, my two girlfriends, and I dressed up as go-go dancers. We wore white boots and mini skirts and stood on a brick retaining wall that had a stair-stepped effect from a few feet high to 6 feet off the ground. We girls fought for that coveted top step location. My friend Patty got the coveted spot because my brother deemed her the "hottest."

So my brothers strummed their tennis racket guitars and we girls danced for hours. Until my mother came out with a plate full of peanut and butter sandwiches and a pitcher of tropical punch Kool-aid.

We DID boogie to that song--again and again--until the record was too scratched to use.

Funny what things you remember from your childhood. This was a really fun day.

My cousins and I (all girls) got to play the guitars since the boys were too little. Those days are some of my best memories, too.

p.s. I had typed something else here, then changed it. Couldn't word it exactly right LOL.
