Steely Stops Smoking

Day 1

Today is my Day 1.

And about time too.

It is a really disgusting habit and I want it gone.

Thanks Dee.

The day is drawing to a close and I've had 1 cigarette. Won't let it stop me from doing better tomorrow.

Day 2

Entering Day 2.

I'm making it a 'no smokes day' Dee. Thanks.

I think distraction, doing things, will help.

Allen Carr got me a long quit once, hypnosis, both the kind I paid for and free on youtube helped.

Day 3

No cigarettes yesterday.!

Moving into Day 3.

Health is more important, but I'll save a lot of money that's for sure.

I really love French perfume, but can never afford it. I could buy some with what I save. Sick of smelling like an ashtray.

Rock on Eve. Day 3 for you too.

I always go back too.

I've got a friend.

We can do this.

And thanks, Dee.

Eve and I are on a roll.

And we're going to do it this time.

Sounds like I'm some Lipstick Femme or something, wanting French perfume. Au contraire. I just love French perfume.

Way to go Steely!

My youngest saw my quit counter, she wanted to know when we get all that money. Smokes were almost 15 a pack when I quit and I smoked a pack a day.

Thanks MyLittleHorsie.

Just got to make sure I don't jump the gun and buy the perfume before I've actually saved the money. Patience is a virtue.

Bloody hell, a pack of cigarettes cost almost $50 here. Freak out!

I can remember reading that people in concentration camps would swap their piece of bread for a cigarette.

Go steely. I’m craving bad today for wine and a smoke. Grumpy fed up. Thing is with me both go together also so that’s why both have to go. I have a vape might use that as I’m scared of going to shop and relapsing on both toxic poisons. But not am I a grumpster today

Day 4

No smokes for me!

They do go hand in hand Eve. I think I read somewhere that an actual chemical relationship exists between the two. Maybe why I smoke more when I drink.

Got through yesterday alright, but on my trip to the shops saw all of these bumpers (butts) on the street and my heart missed a beat. Felt like diving on them. No shame when it comes to alcohol and tobacco, hey.

It's ok to be grumpy Eve. Live the grump I say. Then meditate. We are are doing really great in not drinking or smoking Eve, cut ourselves some slack and drink lots of water.

Your friend in the trenches, Steely.

Edit: I can smell the frangipani in my front garden while sitting in my lounge room. Smell's beautiful.

Day 5

I might not post here everyday it gets a bit boring for people. And me. Decided to post weekly. Have still not smoked.

Might be difficult tomorrow as have to visit my brother in nursing home and have to take him tobacco. It is very stressful when visiting him as he has schizophrenia and can become angry.

See how I go.

Check back in a week's time.

How you doing Eve?

Good for you Steely! It's not easy, but it is so worth it. Ive had to stop and get cigarettes for my husband, and I didnt like it, but it sure did remind me of how much money I am saving. Over 9.00 a pack! Keep up the good work!

Keep it going!

Thank you so much Libby and MLD. Your posts were really encouraging.

I'm dreading buying the tobacco for my brother, but have determined to not cave. I know I would be so disappointed in myself.

Congratulation to you both for quitting this most insidious drug.
