Quiet day for me. Keeping it real. KISS, HALTS. Countdown to D- day (10).
Add to this a ta recent AA meeting- there was a guy there who looked after me a year ago when I was in a coma. Stupid brain is not being quiet. No thoughts of drinking. Coffee, fags and toast. :-)

Good morning!!

I am up early today...and what I realized when I stepped out of the shower is that I am up too early....I don't typically work Sundays and I completely forgot that my department opens at 9 today, as opposed to 8 every other day...lol...oh well I got a bit of a jog in that I hadn't planned on

I slept last night without a sleeping pill (or alcohol) and while I tossed and turned a bit I did pretty well

Well off to face the day....and find some startin fluid....happy Sunday!!

Good morning Misfits. Baby slept a 7 hour stretch last night. Lovely. However she isn't a baby but a toddler who I really wish would sleep straight through. But really the phrase "sleep like a baby" means crap in this house. Take what you can get! Wahoo.

Day...5 I think.

Another weekend another kiddo birthday party to attend. It's nice to take one child out though.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Hubby is making wild rice chicken casserole. It's cold out but sunny. Peace to you all.

Morning everyone!

Day 5 here, too. Feeling much better today. Not sure what my problem was yesterday, but I was in a foul mood all day. Of course, my AV tried to convince that a drink would make me feel better, but I told it to go you know where. Ended up spending a relaxing evening in front of the fire. Hubby usually likes to enjoy his favorite beer or whiskey by the fire, but he didn't have anything last night either. Definitely makes it easier to stay sober when your spouse doesn't drink around you.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Be back later xxx

Good morning everyone!

Thanks, Dee.
Congrats, Casey on shotgun.

Sam, Apple, LB - morning! Have a great fall day!

Phoenix- hugs to you. Am praying for your next 10 days to pass with peace in your heart.

Today is a weird day for me. 1 year ago I swallowed a bottle of pills with the intent to end my life. It is still a difficult thing to say out loud. Even after my time in the psych ward it took me months to admit alcohol was the culprit. I am so different than I was then. My life hasn't really changed in that I still have the same issues I was facing then. But I face them with my eyes open, with my mind sober. I am so grateful to all of you for helping me get here, in this spot today. I know without a doubt I wouldn't have done it without SR. I still have a lot of growing to do. I will always have growing to do. I'm so glad I have received this chance to be better. I'm so glad I woke up.

Day 6. I do want to say that while I am keeping a day count again as part of being honest here, etc., and I know I screwed up by drinking those two nights last week, I also don't feel like I lost what I learned/gained during those 7 months sober before that. I made a mistake by stopping doing the things that had kept me sober those 7 months and as a result I drank. Lesson learned.

Work tonight. It's going to be ridiculously slow between football games and other stuff going on.

Hope your brain finally let you get some sleep, Phoenix.

Have a smooth and easy work shift, Samantha.

7 hours straight sleep is a big step forward, Applekat! Hope there's lots of ice cream at that birthday party. It's still 85-90 degrees here most days though we did have one day in the low 70s last week. I'm ready for some cooler weather.

Glad you didn't drink yesterday, Ladybug. I've never woken up sober and said, "Man, I really should have drank last night."

I'm not going to go back and look at all 34 previous class threads, but I'm pretty sure this might be my first shotgun despite my blabbermouthedness, Bobbieka. So thank you for noticing. And part 35 is pretty awesome. If I'm looking correctly, the only classes with more at this point are July 13 (which I'm also a member of as it was when I joined SR) and March 13. Glad to see us still going strong. Much more importantly, I'm so happy for you that you're in a much better place than you were one year ago. Keep on keeping on, my friend. It's wonderful to share this journey with you.

Have a safe and sober Sunday everyone. Remember it's the first drink that's the problem. Ask for help before you get to that point. I know I wish I had last week.

Hi Casey! I meant to tell you that I'm glad you came back so fast after those 2 days of drinking. It's not easy to do. Hope you have a good day at work!!

Casey, congrats on your first shotgun!! Haha. I'm not sure I've ever had the honor.

Bobbie, that's big stuff. We are happy you are here. I'm sure there's many other people in your life that are happy, too.

PJ, I am thinking of going right to the LOTR movies. They seem pretty good. Do you think they are pretty true to the books? Will I miss much just watching the movies?

I just finished reading "This naked mind" by Annie Grace. I thought it was pretty good. I have not read Allen Carr's book on how to quit drinking but she references it a lot so I'm guessing they are similar. I like her thought process and approach. It's very matter of fact. If you want to get an idea of what the book contains you can listen to Annie on the Recovery Elevator podcast - episode #78. I've become a big podcast guy lately.

Enjoy the day everyone!!

MITA! Reads the books! The Hobbit is a favorite. When I started The Hobbit- I didn't stop until I had them all finished. I read The Hobbit out loud to my sons. Read, then watch. Well worth your time, I promise.

Thirteenth- glad you caught a mtg on line.

Casey- I think it is telling that you belong to 2 of the 3 chattiest classes.

Ok I hope U guys don't hate me....just being honest....I decided to drink today...Dumb, I know!

So let me just tell you, you guys are on mind and I can't thank you enough for that....

I am at the movies to see a special screening of 'The Shining' - so I got my ticket early and went across the way 2 get a glass of wine....the bartender said 'The gentleman over there wants to buy this for you' - I look over to say thanks and I'm like OMG that is NOT my ex! Sure enough, he came over to say hi, I was nice, said thank you, gave him a hug, and he said " Let me know if you wanna do a shot" (I've never wanted to do a shot LESS!) ok movie time! Love U guys!

I am most definitely not the chatty one in July 13. Soberwolf and venuscat take that title.

I'm a voracious reader, ManInTheArena, but I found the LOTR trilogy to be a total slog. One vote for the movies.

Hola Marchians! Read some posts! I envy people that get to read LOTR for the first time. Take your time and read leasurely, it will takes months, but you'll love it!
I have read in some posts of some people relapsing a bit. Just curious here, but did any of you go serious withdrawals on quitting once again? What in part that has kept me straight is that hell I went through on quitting last March after say 15 or so years of steady drinking.

If you start drinking again, sooner or later you'll start drinking as much as/worse than you were during those 15 years and the withdrawals will be just as bad or worse than they were in March. Been there, done that, many many times and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, if I had any enemies.

Where on earth can you go to see a movie and order a glass of wine? Ugh. Purplr, skip the next drink. And definitely skip the shot with the ex, the wine too. Hope you are ok. Thinking of you.

I am a big reader and haven't read the LOTR trilogy either. Movies are awesome!! Now you all have me wondering if I could read the trilogy after having watched them...hmmm.
