Tried to run today but my hamstring felt a bit dodgy so I ended up cycling for an hour. Then worked my triceps, did some push ups and managed 107 chin ups.

I've been doing chin ups every day and recently I began to dread them. I didn't do any yesterday and today I felt great doing them, almost looked forward to it. I think it's time for me to shake up my routine a bit and do chins every second day.

28 miles. Beautiful weather... Found a small botanicle desert park right in the middle of town that I never knew existed. Mark's shots have given me the photo bug for
my next post. Hope
everyone has an amazing weekend.

Had a great workout on Saturday. I ran a slow 10k then used some machines I'd never used before. Changing routines is always a big help for me. I lose weight and gain enthusiasm. Sunday morning now and my body is quite sore but a real nice sore. Today I will rest.

Like this Fitness Thing....

It was so cool to read everyone's workout posts. Very uplifting for me. I too, did a good, solid workout today (albeit nothing like what I read here....no 1700 calories, but I'm proud of my 500). I'm new to sobriety, new to this group, and new to the AA journey. I'm scared, confused and find that exercise and keeping busy is best for me. I've been to AA meetings everyday for five days. Tonight my husband and I are going to a dinner party. Of course wine will be served. This will be my first outing since officially declaring sobriety. I will simply drink water. My husband is a wonderful support system. As a good friend in the AA program told me yesterday, "alcohol is only a beverage". I found this quite comforting....."only a beverage"....."only a beverage".

Wish me luck!

Thanks to all of you for your generous support and sharing your stories.

I'm looking forward to being well enough to get out and run.
A counsellor once told me that it's difficult for an alcoholic to hit the 'runners high'.
I've certainly never had it but have others? I suspect he was talking ****! x

What's happened? Very quiet here. Well, I've had a mixed week.

Saturday: First time on the elliptical. I got in the zone and went crazy doing almost 2 hours. The ground below was embarassingly wet. After that I did 100 chin ups and 100 push ups then worked my triceps.
Sunday: My rest day.
Moday: National holiday here. 10k run, chest, shoulders and bicep workout.
Tuesday: 10k run, 100 chin ups, 100 push ups and triceps.
Wednesday: Felt a possible cold coming on but stupidly went to the gym. Aerobike for one hour, chest, shoulders and biceps.
Thursday: sick
Friday: sick
Saturday (today): still not feeling 100% but I'll probably play tennis.

Hello everyone!

I figured I'd jump in here. Exercise is my stronghold when it comes to sobriety. It gives me a reason to get up in the morning, and more importantly, a reason not to drink.

I started running this summer and worked the C25K leading up to my first 5K in August. I had to lay off a few weeks this month after some minor surgery. This week I'm back at it though.

Started off my week with an easy 2 miles Monday and Wednesday. I'll kick it back up to 3 on Friday. I really want to start working free weights back in on my off days. I used to work out regularly way back when. You know how it goes, though.

Good luck to everyone and look forward to hearing from you!

I got into Muay Thai. It's great! It's a challenge and a great workout. I feel my stamina and energy have come back big time. Cause at first, I slept and ate A LOT. But now, I'm startin to have that strong feeling again.

Plus it helps if I feel any shame, or regret (cause when those feelings arise I get a lil angry at myself when I compare what I know and understand now vs then) that I can direct it to the punching bag lol.
