Ugh… Gonna hop on the bus and take a ride to slumber-town. Had another bad nights sleep…Got fed up and rolled outta bed at 2am…finally got sleepy enough for a second try at sleep around 6am….Woke up at 8am but took the day off work. Dragging butt around the house all day.
Hopefully at destination slumber-town I get better sleep tonight.

Thanks everyone. I feel so terrible, like we simply discarded our problem. We made the decision right from the start that we were not going to fight the cancer. I miss my little morning companion.
On the bus, where I need to be.

Euthanasia is one of the hardest decisions ever.
I've had five animals euthanized. As excruciating as it is to make the decision, it is in the animal's best interest. If you didn't love, it wouldn't hurt so bad.
In no way did you discard him. You gave him a very good life and you saved him more suffering. I hope you can lay the guilt down, but I know that's part of coming to grips with it. I felt that way every time.
Starting at this post in her long-running sprituality thread, honeypig shared the loss of her long-time companion dog. A couple weeks later I lost a cat. It's a tender thread with a lot of healing words if you can stand it right now...or someday...
