The diabolical -- box wine
Your post hit so close to home... I wanna be a wine snob, and have a glass of good stuff every now and again, then look in the bank and know I will want more, so, safe bet with the box! And so easy to hide! What a mess!
Same here. If there was any ever doubt that I was alcoholic, boxed wine verified me as a bonfide wino. It was cheaper buying in bulk and I would lose track of many glasses I had. Since there is the equivalent of about 4.5 or 5 bottles of wine in those things, this spelled disaster every time (aka uncontrollable weeping and eventual black out). I am so relieved that I will never drink again.
At one point I think I even considered buying a wine sippy cup. Yep they exist. The sad thing is I actually used to appreciate the taste of a good wine. I'll have to find another way to satisfy my gourmet inclinations. Damn you alcoholic genes or dopamine receptors or whatever it is.
I want to add that I was a snob even about the box wines so I got the best ones. None of that Franzia stuff. So it was more expensive than you'd think.

This post has brought back so many flash backs about my alcohol abuse words can't describe it! when I went through the "Secret stage" of my abuse I would take the blatter out of the box and hide it in my work backpack because no one would ever look in my lap top bag.... If this doesn't say "problem drinker!" I don't know what does.. Thank you again for the post!

I hate to admit it, but my drink of choice was a spiced rum at %35 alcohol (less than most right?) so I would justify drinking it in a very strong drink, like a splash of diet soda. I almost thought at one point I could drink it like wine. Just sip it straight. yuk.
