Oh hey -- I'm looking for people with animal totems or familiar spirits for me to post about on the 24 Hour thread this week. Cow -- would you come by if I do a cow? Trach, I'm planning a turtle -- will let you know when, ok? Guineapig, we haven't seen you here in a while -- how are you?
Can I show up tanked?

Everyone: Junior. Junior: Everyone. Humans: Trachemys scripta scripta. I was putting a new timer on his light system today and, as usual, he was very curious. Had my phone handy and snapped this. The white stripes are really yellow with a good camera. His belly is VERY much more yellow. I haven't taken the time to puzzle out photographing him. He's got florescent and incandescent lighting, in a tank of water, with natural ambient lighting. Tough subject.

Mmm. Mhmm. A handsome reptile. I mean, no as handsome as Cow, but, come on...

So Trach, how is the sobriety going?

Turtle chow, chicken, various water plants, grape tomatos, worms, lot's of stuff. If I let him, he'd eat my fingers.

Some day I'll tell the story about the bucket of crickets in my carport in AZ. Or about how best to feed mice to snakes. But it would upset Cow. So maybe not. Or maybe.

So Trach, how is the sobriety going?
Not a great photo. Hard to shoot an underwater subject with ambient natural, incandescent and florescent light through glass with a cell phone camera. I was working under his tank, putting a new timer on his light system and he posed on one foot, so I grabbed my phone. You got pictures of Cow posing on one foot?

Sobriety is good. Two days of hard work in the folks yard, tired turtle but, got tons of fresh ripe tomatos and more eggplant. Hard to drink and farm.

Now, how are you?

It's not sobriety sucking, Cow-baby. It's the after effects of non. Hang with me. We'll get there.

Bimini & trach if you check in on the 24 hour thread this week you're likely to see deer and if you look far enough there'll be turtles all the way down!

I don't know if I have just one totem. probably an owl. Love owls! 8 baby sat a turtle for a friend once. He was in a terrarium, a rather large one....about six feet long, two feet wide and two feet high. My cats were intensely interested! They sat next to it and watched. they laid on top of it, and watched. turtle paid no discernible interest. I fed him apples, lettuce, kale, bananas....loved watching him eat.

I had a good day. Ate well, we BBQ'd and enjoyed our friends, home now and staring at my schedule for next week. wish I could draw my head into my shell!

cow, while you may not be able to check in every day. Please try.

Love from Lenina
