Yo BigTex3-

You're not going to like this, but I want to share on my experience.

I had to change my people, places, and things in order to get and remain sober. ANYTHING that involved alcohol had to be removed from my life (at least in the beginning).

Now, I'm not suggesting you get another job, but maybe you need to look yourself in the mirror and really decide if working around alcohol is going to be possible for you. If it's not, make the arrangement now to remove yourself from those situations.

I also want to 2nd the AA thing. I'm an AA'er too.

Big Tex, all of us here have been exactly where you are at many times. Took me a long time to realize that if I continued I was going to die. I wanted to live more than I wanted to die. Alcohol kicked my a** many times and finally put me down so hard I had a very difficult time getting back up. No body has to reach the bottom I reached to make the decision, yes, I am an alcoholic and my life is unmanageable. Make a decision to surrender and live a better life for your own sake and also for the sake of your family.

Why Boleo, are you suggesting we MUST have a complete change of heart, that we REQUIRE a complete transformation, that we let go ABSOLUTELY, that we throw our preconceptions out the window, that our old ideas, emotions and attitudes must be cast aside, that we need a completely new set of conceptions and motives, and that we need to experience an entire psychic change???

I'll answer for you: Yes DT, that's what I'm saying.

continued good luck to you Tex. Recovery is cool but being recovered is a whole new level of living. I hope you have the desire to find it for yourself.
