Aversion Therapy
I would think that making people drink till they puked would be illegal given the risk of injury and even death.
Speaking of aversion therapy, it did work for me, kind of. One day way back when I was 17, I drank lots of Southern Comfort till I puked my insides out. And, for 36 years until I finally stopped drinking all alcohol (which is now 7 months ago), I could not stand the sight, smell, taste, and thought of Southern Comfort. Funny how no other booze affected me like that...

Johnny!! I could relate exactly to your Southern Comfort history... Seriously. I never ever had it after those couple of times in HS... I will spare the details, but aversion would be pitting mildly... In fact, I am cracking up to myself now
Wow, what is it with Southern Comfort? My experience is similar. One after a meeting, my husband asked if I thought the person sitting next to me had been drinking. I said, yes, she was drinking Southern Comfort. He asked if she'd told me. I said no, I could smell it. He challenged me, said no way could I identify the brand of whiskey. I assured him -- yes, I can when it's Southern Comfort. My stomach churned just sitting there.
Though it didn't keep me away from any other kind of booze. Drank on Antabuse, too. It just taught me not to take Antabuse.

I gotta wonder, then.. what makes it so successful for other people?
(Btw... I'm almost through day 2 and I've already been trying to fight the urge to make a run to the beer store tomorrow after I drop my kid off to school..... it's times like these that I feel like I gotta do SOMETHING different. I dunno. I'm so fed up and frustrated with myself. And I'm stone cold sober at the moment!)

Deb....
Make sure your insurance will cover the expense.
Check with your doctor concerning your general health.
Then ... make your reservations.
Isn't that what you want to hear?

Yes, Chug the SoCo till you puke. That smell, that icky sweet with the back of your throat burn taste. eww. I remember those days and it does smell rancid if you're not drinking it which is why I guess I always joined them. lol
Debs, if you think this program will help you then by all means it may be worth the risk. That's what I guess you need to assess, the cost, the risk, the benefit, will it work for you? I personally would never feel comfortable with handing my money to someone without some kind of disclaimer that they will get into successful recovery. If they fail to help you, then you shouldn't be on the hook for a huge bill. Since I know they will likely take everything you pay and return nothing if it doesn't work for you then they are only out for themselves.
How about a non-profit organization somewhere near you? I really believe if you are guarded against being able to drink you will get over the cravings. I don't know how long you have gone without a drink is all. I know for me, with any addiction I have quit it took about two months before the cravings started to go away. Maybe if you can be kept away from liquor for at least this long it will become easier for you.

No.
Not unless that's your true opinion.
Why do I feel like this whole thing is turning into a big joke?

Deb....
I was not making a joke I was suggesting what
would be a good plan before you make a decision.
I'm leery of any place that claims 'high success"
rates in theiir ad's. Of course they would say
that to attract new customers.
That is why I said....make sure your insurance covers
all expenses they charge.
I said see your doctor....because if you have had bleeding
issues it might be dangerous to be forced to vomit.
I almost bled to death from esophogeal varices but I did
return to drinking a few weeks later.
Just saying ...go find out if you must
but be aware of what your getting into first.
I have no expereince with this approach
but I can tell you.....vomiting did not keep
me from drinking....
hope you can work something out soon.
