Anyone lose weight after quitting drinking
I was roughly 360+lbs when I made an honest attempt to stay sober a couple years ago. Since then I am now down to 320 without much exercising, and now that I am trying to hit the gym on a regular basis, I will be losing more.

I quit drinking 2.5 months ago and have lost 7.5 kilograms in that time (16.5 pounds apparently).
I didn't lose much in the first month because I ate so much chocolate and snacks to compensate for the alcohol. As soon as I started returning to normal and eating regular meals it started dropping off.

Last time I stopped drinking, I went from 202lbs to 178lbs in two months... by just not drinking and doing some exercise. No diet involved! I'm now on day 4... yes, again! Another attempt! I'm about 202lbs again and I stopped smoking 2 months ago... let's see how it goes! Needless to say that I feel wonderful already...

I cant wait to shed those 10 pounds I have been trying to lose for 2 years...
I am going back to the gym, and going to actually eat a real meal at least once a day.
I was shocked to find out that the amount of calories I consumed each day with booze was well over 1500.

I went from 118 lbs to 147 lbs when I quit drinking; I went from a size 2 to a size 6! When I drank I rarely ate, wine was my substance and when I quit drinking I substituted massive quantities of M&Ms and other chocolate food for the wine. I'm now down to 134 and hope to lose another 6 pounds.
Thing is, a huge cheeseburger could have been in front of me, and I'd scooch it aside to get to a bag of M&M's. That's changed now that the initial shock is done with, and I'm back to not caring about sweets at all.
Alcohol, ONTOH, I obsess over constantly.

Just over 3 months now and I've lost a total of 9 kilos (touch under 20 pounds).
I'm quite surprised as my diet isn't all that great.
I'm happy though as I was starting to get so overweight from all the Beer and junk food. Losing weight was one of my motivators for quitting.

I weigh about 210 when not drinking and about 195 when drinking constantly.
The difference is that I get my butt in the gym and eat a lot of good food when I'm sober and throw on about 20-25 lbs of muscle mass... when I'm drinking all the time I drop to about two solid meals per day and stop going to the gym.

Hey I can answer my own post. I was up to about 152 (5'6 hieght) My comfortable weight is about 130 and I am now down to about 145.
I have lost about 7 lbs in the last 30 days!! Just from excersise, eating fairly good and not drinking. I still treat myself but I eat ALOT healthier now, lots of olive oil, salads, lean meat, feta cheese, frozen yogurt. We still eat out once a week too!
Really though, my diet has improved and I eat more now so it must be the no booze thing. What a nice side effect.

That is great news! I was kinda of the same way, it feels good to worry about healthy calories vs drinking calories. I am over 300lbs right now @ 6'4" but am within arms reach to getting below that 300lbs for the first time in 4 years! I am so excited. I have set a goal to lose 58lbs over the course of 40 weeks

Hi I am 10 days sober and I have been gaining weight. 3 to 4lbs. I don't crave sugar have been eating salads. Egg whites for breakfast. I have always ate well. Does anyone know why I am gaining? DOES IT Maybe have something to do with the transition . MAYBE MY LIVER. Sorry typing on my cell phone. Will I eventually lose? This is frustrating

I gained weight, and needed too, BUT also im pregnant now so i kinda had to gain weight.
buuut while i was drinking i wasnt eating and only consuming the calories of the vodka so thats not too much..
but if you are consuming high calorie drinks and eating extra on top im sure you will lose the weight after the drinking stops!
