Every Day. I work from home so it was so easy to do. I would wait until 5 but would usually drink 7-8 beers Mon-Thurs night...8-10 on Friday nights..I would start around 3 on Saturdays and drink 10-12 beers and a few tequilas...and Sunday usually a 6 pack. Constantly going out to eat- but it was really to go out to drink.

i had a daily habit. to my husband, it would look like maybe three times a week, but he had no idea i would go out and buy white wine behind his back (my usual is red wine, but i get stains on my lips, so he would know).

my reasoning to hide it was it'd cheaper that way. if he saw me drinking, he would buy his $10 six pack, which would turn into a second 6-pack before midnight. my wine was usually $3 a bottle, so i felt like he was throwing away so much money because of me. it made me feel horrible, so i would just sneak it. he only started finding out after finding my wine bottles hidden everywhere.

tldr; truly a daily habit, but other people saw it as 2 or 3x a week.

I drank everyday and it was exhausting. It was literally a full time job. It was by definition insanity. "I'll drink 6 beers and a nip of liquor on the weekdays and 12 beers and a pint on the weekends" Mondays were horrible! I'm so happy to wake up on Monday hangover free.

Daily. I was determined to
1) make my life and every one's around me a living hell
2) find an alternative to living that was not suicide- I chose daily oblivion.
I succeeded so very well at these.
Thanking all here, god- the universe and anything else I've forgotten to mention for being sober long enough to actually remember it.

Mine was all day everyday. Morning, noon and night. It was an utterly miserable existence.

It varied for me. If I was keeping it somewhat controlled, I'd drink every day in any given week. By somewhat controlled, I mean if I could keep it to 2-3 glasses of wine a day and not have a raging hangover the next day. But If I was on one of my heavier drinking periods, I'd have 5-6-7 glasses of wine and feel like crap the next day, so I would take a day or two off. I was not a "hair of the dog" drinker. And I wasn't someone who drank all day, except on rare occasions. But it didn't matter how much or when - It was too much, I was ruining my life, I was doing extremely stupid things, I hated myself.

I was an every other night type of drinker until just the past few months. I could polish off a whole 750 mL bottle of whiskey in a single night. Now it's most nights with maybe a single (usually sleepless) night once a week.

I used to do what I deemed "strategic hangovers" - if I knew I had something I needed to do on Wednesday morning, I'd make sure to drink on Monday night so that I wouldn't drink on Tuesday night and then I'd be hangover free for whatever it is I had to do on Wednesday morning.

I did the strategic hangover thing, too. But after a while I drank anyway, even if I knew I had something important to do the next day. That's when I started to realize I had little to no control over my drinking.

Once I start drinking it has to be every day for me. I can't fathom how anyone can take days off. I'm either on or off the wagon, there's absolutely no time off when I'm off.

It was every day all day. It had to be. I couldn't go very long without it before I got the shakes so bad. That life was awful.

I was every 3/4 days but ALWAYS Friday night. I would be too hungover t drink Saturday or rarely Sunday. When my daughter was at school I mixed with a group of hard boozing mums and would get together with them 2/3 times in the week , so I always was hung half the week. Then half the week recuperating xx

I had a lot of social engagements in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Arizona. My line of work required me to travel a couple of times a week and go out 4-5 nights per week, with some morning/afternoon events tossed in for good measure. I planned my drinking accordingly. Most of the time, I was driven, and I would drink as much as I wanted. When I had to drive, I would schedule hotels, breaks, and weird itineraries to accommodate my drinking and anti-social tendencies. When I had to be sober, I was. I could pound down 12 beers and wake up the next morning and give a flawless presentation and immediately celebrate by having a day drinking session.

Everyone knew I drank and I didn't hide it from most. I had a very rigid schedule. I had to workout 2 hours per day and do all these things with people I didn't like, sometimes people I didn't know, and my drinking was my "me time", and nobody was going to take that away. There were times when I had an especially difficult few days ahead, where I was to be somewhere that wouldn't allow me to drink, and those were the toughest schedules to map out. I obviously managed to circumvent it and drink anyway, but it wasn't ideal.

In 10 years, I never missed a single day of work. There were times I wanted to, but I didn't. I think as far as my sobriety goes, the worst part for me is having so many enablers. People close to me that would accommodate my schedule and allow me to do it. People I didn't know that loved that I drank and wanted to drink with me. Nobody ever sat me down and said stop. I looked a decade younger than I was, I was successful, very in shape, and I guess nobody saw it as a problem.

Looking back, I don't know if drinking ever was a real problem for me other than knowing that I consumed way too much. Knowing that not being able to travel to a reservation because alcohol was banned and doing silly things to allow me to drink (like making 3 overnight stops from Las Vegas to Seattle just so I could get drunk each night and sleep soundly while if I was sober I could have driven straight through). Things like that.

In addition to my drinking requirements, I also demanded to smoke. So, I stayed in casinos whenever possible, which allowed me to do whatever I wanted. If you add up the amount of money spent on suites at casinos versus what I could have spent on your average hotel, it runs into the tens of thousands... just to be able to drink and smoke.

I usually drank 5-10 lite beers per day. I didn't drink hard liquor, but if people handed me a shot I would oblige. I also enjoyed champagne. On party nights I would add a few more beers to that total and just drink until I passed out. Eventually, I became more and more secluded, allowing only close friends and family into my world, and even then more sparingly. I am still that way. My social game is gone. I find myself really disliking people in general. I think I need to be numb to deal with them.

This thread was started back in 2010 heavencanwait

It seems to be an important thing for people in early recovery to have some idea where they fit in so I'll start a new poll thread:
